We should all respect the fact that it's hard work to Win here. It takes extra effort to convince kids like Anthony Davis and Zuttah to choose Rutgers over Ohio State.
For that reason, I think he wants a plum head coaching job, with a school that sells itself. This way he doesn't have to work as hard, convincing recruits. Miami was the perfect opportunity for him, and he got beat out because Georgia fired their coach. Miami generally gets the pick of the litter, especially in South Florida. They are what you would call a selector school.
At Rutgers, we generally have to go after secondary and tertiary choices, as our primary choices from New Jersey, are inclined to go elsewhere. So Florida has become integral to our recruiting. It's hard work to turn over every rock to find recruits, which most fans don't appreciate. Schiano did it for 11 years, and did a great job. So naturally, he feels he is at a level where he prefers not to do that anymore, especially after having coached in the NFL.
I think his next job is either DC in the NFL, or DC at a selector school like tOSU, which would position him for the head job at a selector school like OSU, Miami, TX, etc.
It's time for us to move on, while at the same time, I hope he gets whatever he is looking for.
