1. This isn’t the NFL. Stupid argument. Go coach in the NFL then.

2. Love them or hate them (Notre Dame), as long as they are not robbing your conference, I like the fact college is quirky:

-Independents,

-The Academies who everyone wants to play (the pageantry)

-The dozens of different offenses (Spread, ground and pound, Delaware (GTech/Air Force), Boise’s unpredictable offense)

-VERY unique stadiums we all get to see

We finally have our playoff. Debating the rest is what keeps us engaged year round. The NFL: when the season is over; its over.

What say you on Notre Dame?

I was actually glad to see his comments. It's good to get people thinking about why ND should get special treatment, hopefully to get people to realize that it shouldn't. IMHO, the P5 and G5 conferences blew it when they didn't stipulate that the playoff system would feature conference champions going against one another. That would forced ND's hand, along with BYU's. The ACC could have had them as a full member, so they will likely live to regret not doing so. Or, had ND chosen to go with the B1G, rather than the ACC, the B1G would have led the way to having 16 school conferences (probably with UVA as the 16th school).

this argument may go away if the ACC gets clearance from the NCAA to have alternative slotting for their championship game.

This way they can take their top division winner vs. Notre Dame, the other division winner, or 2nd best ranked conference team. I have no issue with it as long as they maintain at least 12 teams.

I don't like it for the B12 though as they are holding back on expansion. They have an advantage with only 10 teams and no championship game. Yes, they play a true round robin so the top teams play each other that can lead to a loss for one of the teams that the other Power 5 may not experience (ie. Wisconsin doesn't play Ohio St this year). On the down side they don't play a 13th game. The 13th game is typically a matchup of 2 teams in the top 25 and more likely in the top 15 so it is an opportunity for a loss. Also, with the round robin they can plan out the tough games. For example, if they want they can schedule Texas vs. Oklahoma with a bye week before or after so it is not like the championship game where you finish the season and have 1 week until a championship game. They also can schedule it earlier in the season so that the voters will give it less weight if the losing team wins 6 or 7 straight games after to finish the season.

Without a conference champ game ND will always fall short just like Baylor and TCU did last year. It will take two years of having the door shut in their face and then ND will have to join a conference
The mystique of ND is all but gone now, and every year away from a NC playoff the more they look like a Syracuse or Pittsburgh

The Missouri coach should shut up and address the scheduling weakness of the SEC before he throws stones. Missouri finishes first in the SEC east last year ... in a season in which they are a loser at home to the last place team in the B1G Ten east division (Indiana). Imagine if those SEC schools as a whole, played real out of conference opponents? And not all at home in the south?

In this particular case I agree with him but so far this off-season all I see is a bunch of SEC coaches whining about how unfair life is. I didn't feel TCU should have gotten in if it came down between tOSU and TCU (truthfully I just feel FSU shouldn't have been in there at all if we were going with 4 "best" teams in the 2014 season, not 2013). The whole argument was that there wasn't a true conference champion to really set TCU or Baylor apart. But how dumb would it be if ND got in, when they don't have any championship or compete in any conference to begin with?

They didnt blow it because they dont want that. The P5 conferences all think that they can be the ones with TWO teams in the playoffs. If allowing ND once a decade allows them to get two teams twice a decade, then thats a win.
