Nebraska may be the surprise team of the league so far. After a rough start, including a blowout loss to St. John's, they are playing very well, especially at home. Last night they blew out our next opponent, No. 23 Michigan in Lincoln by 20 points in a game that was really never in doubt. (They also recently gave Purdue a much better game than we did in W. Lafayette).

On the other hand, Michigan has been up and down - beating MSU by double digits, nipping MD at home at the buzzer and then losing big to Nebraska. I think the game in Ann Arbor may be a bit more competitive than I first thought.

Nebraska plays very well at home, but not very well away from Lincoln. They are 13-2 at home and 1-5 on the road. Glad we have them at home first. I expect us to split with them this year.

Both teams are different teams at home than on the road. Miles has done a great job at Nebraska in year many thought they would be bottom 4...5-3/14-7 they have legit ncaa hopes due to their strong sos. Michigan looked really bad last night as the shots wouldn't go down. Both games will be tough but I think RU can beat Nebraska at the RAC

Comparing scores in the BIG this year is crazy. As far as RU is concerned, if we bring our offense and shoot well we can be competitive with anyone. And, we can get blown out ugly if we don't shoot well.

Everyone is better at home, but I agree that Nebraska is much better at home. Michigan, however, is pretty good on the road - they won at Michigan State and at Texas - both tough places to play. Michigan looked awful shooting at home in the first half against MD (only 18 points!), but they snapped out of it in the second half. Hopefully, RU gets the cold shooting Wolverines.

Sunday will be Michigan's 4th game in 9 days so they may still have some dead legs, although being at home is always a help. 3rd game in 6 days and relatively long road trip last night had them looking rough.

Stay out of guard foul trouble and play physical and it will be a close game.

I was surprised by this result but we cannot take anyone lightly. Every team in the league can beat us on any day and we can beat many of them if we play like we did against SHU, Wisconsin & Iowa.

watched the game, it was all about Nebraska's D. Michigan got VERY few good looks. They were throwing up lots of prayers. Hoping our D really shows up but you have to figure the outcome wasn't a great thing for us (thanks Huskers!)

Nebraska D is very underrated

they switched on all screens with a smallish lineup and it worked

Seems to be a rough stretch for a lot of Big 10 schools currently. Last night was NU’s 5th game in 13 days. Miles said they are dragging some but go to OSU Monday. That one will probably get ugly and not in a good way for NU.

Actually I think the outcome is good for us .First, the defensive footprint to stop Michigan’s usually good shooting we should be able to replicate. Second, they were starting to be discussed as in the top 1-4, and now a depleted Maryland should have beaten them at home last week until they got bailed out by the refs and Nebraska took them to the woodshed. We have to believe we are equal to a depleted Maryland and Nebraska and should have confidence we can do the same thing . Kinda like how Michigan State got Blown out by Ohio State before they played us and were no more viewed as unbeatable.

they had one bad loss and now return home where they are a way differnet team and there will a packed crowd of yellow wearing students jumping up and down. If they get hot from 3 this one will be ugly. I am predicting a low scoring affair but tack another 10 points for MIchigan if they are hot. They beat Michigan State at home which was huge and then emotional win over Maryland...not sure why people are downplaying them after a loss to a tough Nebraska on the road, this is a very very good team that will be in the NCAA tourney.

Agreed!

Our B1G schedule is a fracking joke.

@Purdue
@MSU
@Mich
@Minne (pre suspension)

Totally sucks.

you think maybe we could have played Minne now after they're imploding??? noooooo had to be one of the 2 December games.

The bloom might come off of Ricky Jr pretty soon, I don't see them finishing well. If they do , good coaching job by him

and Nebraska is in a tie for 5th in the league and we get them 2x. Just the luck of the draw this year, teams that were suppose to be good are not and teams that were suppose to be bad are good

FWIW, most everyone had Purdue and MSU as the top 2 in the league and we play them twice (and we only play 5 teams twice, including OSU, which is admittedly a surprise top tier team). So looks like we got hosed even using preseason rankings.

well most had OSU and Nebraska in the bottom 6 ....plus we have Illinois so it evens out...remember Minny and Northwestern were suppose to be 3 and 4 and we only got them once..ditto for Maryland and Michigan You cant complain when we played Minny, those are the breaks. seriously there should be no complaining about the schedule, its not done to screw anybody

As opposed to football, where we somehow draw Wisconsin again as a crossover game (3rd time in 5 years with 2 on the road) by far the best team from the West! ;)

Who is downplaying them? After their nice road win at struggling Michigan State, they were lucky to beat Maryland at home and got absolutely dominated by Nebraska last night. Yeah they are a good home team, but the blueprint for beating them was exposed by Nebraska, plus they are coming off 2subpar games in a row. I like our chances. It doesn’t mean they will not be an NCAA team, they will, but they are clearly beatable. Give our team a little more credit.

Bac,

The Michigan win against Michigan State was on the road.

Best of Luck,
Groz

League games are sometimes easy to predict because the home team usually has a decided advantage.There always will be some road wins because of the matchups ,injuries and when the games are played .Right now Purdue and Ohio State are clearly at the top of the B1G based on their dominating wins home and away.Nebraska is a team that clearly plays better at home which matches Rutgers performances except for the Michigan State road game.

For the record I have no theories that the B1G is screwing us on purpose

What I'm saying is we were unlucky--which frankly seems to happen a lot to us!
