New PWO QB 2016

Welcome to the Banks, young man! I can definitely seeing us saying three years from now, "Man was that a great pick up for RU!"

If he is an athlete maybe he can help in other areas but I doubt he sees time over Oden...think privately Ash has already dubbed Oden the QB of the future (think he red shirts as a freshman)...but generally QBs are the most atheltic on their high school teams so maybe mr Wyatt will be able to make contributions in other positions?

Could well be, Reppin, but go back a year or two and we all had Rettig as stud QB for three years in a row. You never know!

I think we are expecting a true QB competition this time around.
I don't disagree about a true competition after last years farce, and this takes nothing away from the student athlete PWO,
However, I personally do not think a walk on is going to challenge the (5?) scholarship QBs on roster come summer...However, I'm also in the minority here in thinking Ash won't really install his spread offense this year, I think he'll be forced to create a hybrid based on laviano or rettigs skill sets (possibly dare or rescigno)

Can you tell us where you heard this info about "Ash dubbing Oden as the QB of the future?" Especially since as you say it was done "privately" Stuff like this is just you as a fan projecting your thoughts based on zero information on what the coach should do. Silly

Let's not forget that Houston just had a converted DB/WR, run the Offense last year. And, as I remember did a really good job. Running a Spread Offense, is another animal all together. That QB has to be smart, with a quick decision skill set, arm strength, and size takes a back seat to mobility. Should be an interesting Spring/Summer.

There is a difference between stupid, thoughtless opinions and smart, thoughtful opinions. Your life experience may show you that those who bring forward the latter are valued by others, while people with thoughtless opinions are ignored.

Every time I think back to that supposed QB competition and how Flood handled the position during his tenure, it reminds me why I felt so strongly we needed a change. Seems like this young man was headed to West Point so happy to have him here in any capacity.

So ignore the opinion rather than make a silly comment, this isn't a communist board where only the opinions of the majority are allowed. I never said I had a source or heard or read anything, based on the late commitment and who else was recruiting Oden, it is my opinion that he was given some vote of confidence from
Ash. The point being I do not see a walk on legitimately coming in and challenging for a starting spot.

I think you need to re-evaluate the difference between a thoughtless opinion that has no basis in reality and an opinion that might be different from your own.

Reppin__Jerz is not a fan.

Welcome.
Always good to have competition.

Is it me or does he seem to be a tad off balance when he throws (He did seem to have good arm strength).
Looks like he had a little hitch to reset his feet prior to throwing on the run.

Seemed to have really good speed.

Go away Putz- we do t want your psu slanted opinion in every post- really go away

As a bonus, he can teach the art of the Sonnet in the MFA program.

He'll be telling DBs "Noli me tangere" as he burns past them.

According to Reppin Jerz, Oden has the job starting the 2017 season, so how is there any true competition?
Oden is the only true spread QB on scholarship (unless you think Gio fits the bill) so yes as of now he has the starting job in 2017 in my opinion IF ash has the other pieces in place to
go to a spread. We'll see if Ash can find a transfer to come and and compete. If Laviano and Rettig weren't the answer in last years Pro set they certainly aren't a fit for the spread. I'd like to see what Mike Dare can do however.

Another thread turning into a Republican debate ? :sunglasses: We need athletes .At all positions. And we need them now..
