New Rutgers Radio Basketball Analyst Named

Boylan would be a very good guest speaker at a Court Club meeting because of his background including coaching at Rutgers when Jordan was a player.

I may have bad memory but was it announced that Dick was retiring last season? I don't seem to hear an announcement at the RAC for the last game where the fans could have shown their appreciation to Dick for the many years broadcasting at Rutgers.

Will miss Lloyd and I still miss Bruce Johnson for basketball (he was way better on hoops than football, IMO). Left to right on your radio dial...

Joe Boylan is a terrific guy, and I always wondered what would have happened had they offered him an interim coaching job when Young left so late in the summer for ODU, then had a "real" coaching search instead of grabbing Littlepage at a time when most coaches wouldn't interview. Never asked him that when I had the chance.

True story -- I wrote a column about Young when he was in his third year at ODU and it looked like they were improving after losing everybody from the team he inherited from Webb. About two weeks later I got a short note from Young in the mail thanking me. In the pre-Internet days I was totally puzzled by this, until I was at the Somerset Diner and ran into Joe Boylan. It suddenly clicked in my head, and he said that, yes, he had passed along the clip. This was before he went to Loyola.

Good to have Joe around the program.
