News from Dallas

I hope everyone enjoyed it.

As I mentioned on the ESPN board, I had to make certain adjustments to the original version late Friday night.

In all honesty, I would love to see what a coach like Geno could do at a different university, let's say second tier ( not an already established year in and year out elite program).
Of course, that will never happen, but it sure would be fun to watch how he would build it up.

Geno did that at UConn.

I'd like to see what Geno could do at a certain Big 10 university near New York City.

No thanks, not that it would ever happen for many reasons.
Would take him in a heartbeat if the opportunity was real, which it never will be. Give me one solid reason basketball-based reason why not. There isn't one, but I understand personal dislike for the man.
I respect his abilities though.

Actually, to some degree, I'm beginning to think that personal dislike is misplaced. I'm no sociology major, so I don't know the terms to use, but he is a certain type of person - aggressive, a bit arrogant, a "put up or shut up" type. For better or worse, I don't really care for those folks, but it doesn't mean they are not good people or admirable.

Geno in the past, at times, said some things that I thought were, well, rude. In large part, I've come to see that he just speaks his mind and doesn't care about the consequences. Just because I wouldn't choose to be a personal friend of his personality type, I have gotten past the personal dislike stage.

As to the coaching - yes, he is a heck of a coach. He is also north of 60, so I'm not panting to have him as a coach even if he was available. A few years ago would be a different story, if we needed a coach at the time. I wish his spirit descended into his coaching tree, but there is no evidence that it does.

He turned me off when Ru was at Final Four and playing LSU. RU was up like 12 at half and Geno was guest at the half. Could have said RU was playing well. Instead he goes off and says that wasn't LSU team we played. Just turned me off. Sour grapes.
