Years ago, in the early 90's, I used to DJ a massive tailgate for the Giants/Jets exhibition game for a group called the Wanaque Jaycees. They'd buy a whole section of the stadium for their fundraiser. However, when the Jets/Giants started requiring their season ticket holders to buy the preseason tickets, that killed that. It's really just a money grab.Sucks even more as a season ticket holder. As a Jets STHer, I have to pay $250 ($125 x 2) for these meaningless games. Having to pay regular season prices for exhibition games is consistently the biggest gripe of all NFL STHers.
Just do away with it. There is really no reason for it ..other than revenue concerns.

Don't forget about the cost of the PSL for the two seats. I dropped my 6 LL Jets seats when they told me I needed 6 PSL's to retain my right to continue purchasing the seats I owned for 15 years. They wanted $ 36K for them, plus the cost of the season tix. The last I looked the resell price to buy a Jets PSL is 50% of the original selling price.
What they should do is call a spade a spade and charge people for 8 games the same amount they would for the 10 games and make the preseason games completely open to the public on a general admission basis. Would introduce fans who would not otherwise be able to afford attending an NFL game a way to experience the NFL. Of course this will never happen because $$$$.The Giants where thoughtful enough to reduce the price of their two pre-season home games, but then raised the regular season tickets to offset reduction.
