The story about RU hiring a law firm to investigate the program is the No. 1 feature at the top of the page -- with a photo of KF (making his "one phone call"?). The story about the possible dismissal of charges against Caroo is story No. 21 in the list. And the latter was new "two hours ago"; the featured story was new "three hours ago".

Granted the investigation story has bigger implications in the long run, but why bury the Carroo piece?

The timing of the news regarding an investigation that started back in August is a bit too coincidental, don't ya think?

Though they manage to get the Rutgers name in plenty of negative headlines, including tangential ones, it didn't make this one:
2 N.J. universities rank among the top 100 in the world, new rating says
Of course the fact that this is Princeton and Rutgers is only news to the twits that think Trenton State/TCNJ actually rates on anything other than the moderately affluent NJ suburbanite popularity scale.

Because these idiots truly believe they are high profile investigative "reporters"...Duggan , Sargent and Politi need to formerly write a retraction on what actually occurred that night ...They used the, "I can say anything method "since nobody can disprove the legitimacy of content at the time and as many have said, " don't feed these bums anything about the team etc."... Rutgers would actually benefit from no coverage by Kevin Manahan's minions...Proof of their stupidity is the Sports Illustrated article which claimed Flood attempted to circumvent not only Barnwell's grade with the professor but also those arrested for burglary and assault... this from a reputable rag mag.

Even now .. look again. Charges have been offically dropped and its not even on the front page .. you have to click into the Rutgers Football section !!!

Meanwhile when charges were pressed, it was pinned to the top of the homepage for more than a day !!

Absolutely maddening.

i thought it was Jim Wilse, their last editor who had a thing for RU. their current editor is Kevin Whitmer, a RU alumni. oh well. i guess it's their corporate strategy.

I think it's Kevin Mahahan at the root of it all. I hope someone responsible writes an expose on the whole lot and they all lose their jobs.

The SL is our enemy and so are their advertisers. Pressure the advertisers!
Very good point. I'm going to spend some time thinking how that can be effectively done in this case. Won't be trivially easy, I don't think. But a good approach nonetheless.

Guys, banning NJ.com is not enough. Go to their competition which I believe is app.com. When app.com starts getting more traffic than nj.com then the people that want to advertise will go there. Right now simply banning doesn't change that decision.

They are not just reporting the news. I have no problems with the Asbury Park Press. They just reported the news w/out putting any spin on it. Read the two different presentations of the news about the dropped charges and tell me you don't see the obvious agenda at NJ.COM.

Exactly what I said a couple of posts up.

Completely agree. I was calling mal359 a troll.

Interesting strategy who are the major advertisers in the SL. Maybe instead of boycotting the SL we boycott the advertisers?
