No. 13 Rutgers field hockey will close out the regular season with a pair of home games this weekend. RU plays No. 7 Iowa on Friday as part of Stick it to Cancer Day, and then host senior day on Sunday afternoon against American. Both games will be streamed live on BTN Plus. The Scarlet Knights will have a pregame ceremony honoring the two seniors on the team, Nikki Profita and Linde Van Schaik, in addition to senior manager Megan Cunningham, on Sunday

Great, great game & win. Late in the game Iowa had several successive penalty corners with a penalty stroke sandwiched in. The Ladies hung tough & Gina Glatz made an unbelievable save on the penalty stroke. The Ladies were very disciplined & they are skilled & playing with chemistry & confidence. You go Ladies! Go RU! No let down vs American.

If OSU loses to Michigan on Sunday, there will be a 3 way tie for 4th place in the B1G with RU, OSU and Iowa. So who gets the 4 seed and home game in the first round of the B1G Tourney? RU beat Iowa, Iowa beat OSU, and OSU beat RU. I guess next tiebreaker would be goal differential.

I came here all high on our #13ru shutting out #6 in the nation and I'm reminded that we could still finished 6th in our conference. Welcome to the big 10! (there's no place I'd rather be).

Player of the week again for Glatz I'd bet. And she's just a sophomore (Groothuis too).

4-4 in league ... another team breaks the losing record hump!

  • No. 13 Field Hockey Shuts Out No. 7 Iowa

  • (No. 13 Rutgers field hockey 12-4, 4-4 Big Ten) earned its second top-ten win of the season with an outstanding defensive effort, earning a 1-0 shutout victory over No. 7 Iowa (12-5, 4-4 Big Ten). Nikki Profita scored the lone goal and Gianna Glatz made three saves, including a huge late stop of a penalty stroke to secure Rutgers' eighth shutout of the season.

I know next to nothing about this team and the sport in general. Obviously the B1G must be stacked with good teams. I see in the OP that we only have two seniors to honor. I don't how many play a side in FH or how big of a roster we carry but that must bode well for our future as well. Oh and very nice win against #7 in the Iowa.

rufeelinit, there are 11 to a side. We have 21 girls on our roster. This is a young squad. FYI there are 2 girls from Holland, 2 from Ireland, 1 from Germany, & 1 from New Zealand. We have two from Pa.[a hot bed] & the remainder are Jersey girls. My daughter played through HS & a year at Georgetown. It is a crazy game that takes great eye hand coordination among other skills. Our girls are very skilled as you might expect & are plenty tough, as are the girls in all of their sports.

And yes the Big is stacked with really good teams. Several in the top 20. Clearly the best conference of all IMO.

Don't know anything on that score. Wouldn't surprise me, but I hope not.

just 3 short years ago we were 0-9 in conference. Good job by them

As recently as two seasons ago a couple of bigmouths around here were screaming that this coach should be fired and that Hobbs had no idea what he was doing but, as they usually are, both were wrong. I’m also pretty sure that neither of them have had a single good thing to say about the team this season.

So we get a rematch with OSU in Columbus in the first round of the B1G Tourney. 4 seed vs 5 seed. Need to close them out this time.

Pretty sure last year all 4 B1G tourney semifinalists made the NCAA tourney ... so a win in the rematch might just punch their ticket to the big dance.

OSU needs help to get in. Their RPI is 25. RU's is 7. RU is in no matter what at this point, but beating OSU likely gets RU a first round home NCAA Tourney game. Probably 5 B1G teams will make the Dance (MD, Michigan, PSU, RU and Iowa).

We can certainly take them. matt, remember I said not to take American for granted. Was also afraid of a bit of a let down after Iowa.
Fortunately it didn't hurt us today. RPI is at 7, let's get a little revenge on OSU and hopefully get a home NCAA Tournament game.
