Legendary college basketball commentator Dick Vitale is returning to the mic. Vitale grew up in East Rutherford and has been with ESPN since 1979.

please correct me if im wrong but I believe DV was born in Passaic then moved to Garfield until HS age. He did attend ER high school, now Becton where he eventually coached the high school and Les Cason.
I really wish Dickie V would attend a game at Rutgers, or better yet announce a game. Sadly, i don't think this will ever happen

I went to East Rutherford high school when Vitale was the coach
Les Cason (pee wee) was on my babe Ruth team
Played first base and pitched
Well over 6 ft at that point

He was always over exuberant, even back in the 60s
I don’t think he could ever be a head coach for a long time in a pressure environment
He didn’t have the stomach for it

The only way he would be at an RU game is if he finally gets over the fact that Rutgers past him over as their BB coach
