Now that's how you beat an inferior opponent.

Best win I've seen from Rutgers when they have played an inferior opponent. But it didn't start out to be such a massive blowout until C. Viv called a timeout after a lackluster second half where the ladies allowed Purdue to whittle away a 10 halftime lead down to 2 points.

Stringer was visibly upset as well as Chelsea and the other coaches. They lit a fire under our ladies and they came out on fire and blew away an inferior opponent. THAT is how you beat an inferior opponent. You DON'T play down to them and let them hang around. You continue to play YOUR game and make the other team adjust. Copper was a scoring machine and Laney, was Laney with 16 points a tone of rebounds, and our other ladies just played solidly throughout the second half. I'm hoping Scaife is out of her funk now and I would like to see Canty finally turn it around.

I just loved watching this kind of game. It reminds me of what UCONN always does to inferior opponents. They put the pedal to the metal and never let up. Today we played like a champion.

You're absolutely right. What a fun game to watch!

What's really interesting to me is that we held Purdue to the same number of points in both games, 49, but we were 20 points better offensively in this game than in the one at their house about 2 weeks ago.

I've got to say, the team is rolling.

Ariel and Rachel are playing some of the best offense of their careers, and having them plus Christa pulling it together on Defense and Offense is something we needed.

Also, why haven't we started shooting 3's with Betnijah and Tyler sooner this season

Oh and i'm going to start another thread

Diana, interesting observation. I didn't realize with held them to 49 points last time. The difference today seem to be FOCUS. After the team got its "talking to" at the timeout, there was a completely different attitude and the women played with focus, passion and urgency. This game reminded me of some of their better wins in the past NCAA tournaments. I loved it!

Tyler has to find her shooting touch if we are going to handle top flight opponents. At the very least it will help a very great deal.

I haven't looked at any stats yet but Tyler just looked kinda lost and outta synch at times. Starts looking more and more mental than an injury.

Tyler looked good on transition drives, her jumper was consistently off by a hair. She will recover.

The game changer was when we played great defense, made steals, ran with rebounds, and made some easy baskets with the press.

I noticed that we put the 55 in at exactly the time we scored out 55th point (purely coincidence.)

Copper is gifted.

Puzzling, where has Scaife's fire gone? She just seems out of it at times. I don't see the ," I don't care who you are, I'm making my shot", drive she once had. Hope she can get her touch back, as we won't go far without her scoring. We know she suffers from headache problems, but I think something else has shaken her confidence. It could be that the better teams are now setting their defense to stop her, and she just has not made the adjustments needed to overcome the defensive pressure she is now seeing.

Come on Scaife, bring it, the team needs you,

She has been missing open looks that she has drained in the past. She missed three consecutive free throws today. It may be mental or it may be her legs at this time of the year. Some fatigue, as she is not a big girl relatively speaking.

After Tyler's free throw misses I was most upset. I feared she was lost for the season. But the next time she was fouled, she hit both shots. Her jumpers began to go in, too. I don't know what the problem is/was ,,, at the huddle, Chelsea seemed to think she'd get over it ... but I hope that was the turning point for the final four games of the season.

Also, Sy Davis didn't have much in the way of points today but she is a very good thief. Purdue's turnovers is what gave us the big blowout lead, IMHO. Others stole as well, but it is Davis who can be relied on to get the ball that gives us the points. I think we should think up a term for her, other than "sixth man." She's a very valuable teammate.

If 14 minutes today Davis had 4 assists to 0 turnovers and 7(!) steals. If she's not the B10 DPOY something is wrong.

Can't argue with that.

Davis creates such disruption, and lately she has been literally taking the ball from a player standing and holding it. She does it so cleanly but the refs can't believe it so they blow the whistle at times.

Speaking of whistles, it appears that Laney has been working on her acting skills with a flop or two; hey it works for our opponents so why not!!??

AGREE!!!

Davis is one of the best defensive players this year in the B1G and I believe in the nation.
