For the first time in history,a Powerball jackpot had to be revised DOWNWARD,from 311 million to 302 million.

People are tapped out.The apologists are claiming that it was the recent Mega Millions jackpot that drew players away, but I'm not buying this. After the equivalent number of misses last winter, the jackpot was already over 700 million.

It's tap city.No more tax refunds to invest.

I used to be in the "it's worth a shot!" crowd but the odds are so stupid it's honestly not even worth the couple bucks investment a week.

You're way way way better off playing those daily 3's or whatever for the $5,000 jackpots and what not. I actually know multiple people that have won those multiple times. Yet to meet a Mega Millions/Powerball winner.

This is good news, less people buying means greater chance for me.
No. Whether you are the only person buying or one of 1 billion your odds of wining are the exact same.

The odds of you having to split with another person are slightly less though.

I do think people are getting burnt out. I only played when my office pool did. Anytime it was over $300 or so we would all pitch in until it hit. Now it always has been over that because they doubled the cost so we haven't really bothered to set a new threshold.

Not much of a return if you split $300.

I only play if it goes over 300 million. I couldn't live on anything less than that!

The NJ Pick 3 has a 1000:1 shot & pays $250 straight up. boxed is a 167:1 shot & pays $40.

That's a tax on people bad at math.
