Observation: Michael Burton Can Block

No stars, with offers from Lehigh, Maine, Monmouth and New Hampshire. Fire Flood and Schiano.

A class player who could play ball and was probably underutilized during his career at RU.

It's a great success story when a guy goes unnoticed and then proves he has talent. Can't build a Program with 0-2 Star Recruits in the Power 5 but one or two gems a year would be an accomplishment .

A great representative of our school. His Dad is a really nice also. Got to meet him on some road trips.

Article said that MB was the "odds-on favorite to win the Fullback job"...wow, I didn't realize he was doing that well....can't wait to watch some Lions games this year

I never had any doubts. He was always a solid contributor on the field, and handled his role well, even though it did not show up in gaudy statistics.
I like this quote from his High School coach:
"I thought he was a phenomenal player because he has natural gifts," West Morris Central coach Kevin Hennelly said. "He's very athletic. But probably what separates him, even now as an NFL prospect, is he just outworks people."

I will take an under the radar guy who outworks others over a superstar prima donna who rests on their laurel every time.

He also graduated with a 3.5 GPA. The epitome of an under the radar guy who developed and played well. I think he will be a great ambassador for Rutgers too.

good kid, 3.5 GPA graduate of a Top 50 University- how is this kid a typical meathead?? Dod the scout even look at Burton or just mail it in?

I don't know what that scout was watching. He couldn't be more wrong about Burton.

Very proud of Michael, not too many guys from my alma mater West Morris Central make it to the pros.

When RU had their popularity poll last year Burton was picked toughest by his team mates

Looks like MB had a very nice game last night, given it was against the Jets, saw some excellent run blocks and one blitz pick up that was outstanding

He's lucky he chose a school that utilizes a FB. He may have been a LB anywhere else.

Unless we have classes designed to give our student athletes an easy "A" ...*couch* UNC....... I don't see how you can even begin to call any of our players a typical meathead if they attend RU. If anything, they should be called an atypical meathead :P Really happy to see Burton and other RU players continue to rise with their respective teams.
