I posted this a week ago and at the time, many of you thought i was simply "stoking the flames" of a situation that would die out quickly. As it now appears to be quite the opposite, here is my take on things and plan of action. I made ALL these points last week and my feelings havent changed, if anything, they are even stronger now

a) in NJ, it appears that the Tail wags the dog. The media is largely toxic and rushes to judgement - which puts pressure on a spineless group of administrators who want the prestige and revenue that the B10 brings but none of the headaches. Luckily we now have Greg Brown who does have a set of ***, hoping he is enough to bring rationality back to Piscataway

b) Julie has NEVER supported Kyle from day 1. After the disappointing 2013 season, it is fairly well known that she tried to find another coach, but just didnt have the money to buy out Kyle and hire a quality name

c) Barchi has a history of passing the buck when it comes to athletics - he railroaded Tim P and I fear he will do the same to Kyle if they can find any way to fire him for breach of contract

d) Kyle has done NOTHING that even hints of a NCAA rules breach and the man has shown himself to be of the highest integrity and represents Rutgers quite well in the media. Julie has had an infinite amount of mulligans, Kyle deserves at least 1 or 2, and equally important, his termination would take the football program back years, as few people would want to step into a situation like that. I will post Tara Sullivan's excellent article below

With that said, it is time to take out a full page ad in the Targum and/or any other publication that can ensure Barchi and Julie will read. We need to highlight Kyle's achievements both on and off the field, and get out in front of (yes, I put that same phrase in a week ago) any potential consequences that our administration might have in mind. As I have said before, I am willing to personally fund this if I can find a good PR/Advertising person that will help us put something together, as those skills are beyond my paygrade. I am open to other suggestions as well that will support Coach and get out in front of this

Simply standing up and cheering for Kyle at todays game is a nice gesture but does nothing. We need to get to Julie and Barchi and create some properly deserved "buzz" around the coach - so they will think twice before succumbing to the relentless pressure by the media.

Right now, all the buzz is negative, as the athletic department is backed into a legal corner and outlets like NJ.com are having a field day. WE have the opportunity to "CHANGE THE CONVERSATION" and let the Coach, players, students and the ADMINISTRATION know that we stand behind this man, and the situation needs to be resolved expediently, so we dont lose the 2015 season to a series of off-field incidents that get re-hashed each and every day in the press and so we can show the incoming recruits that Rutgers Supports its team instead of eating our own, as the media outlets would have us do

In the words of Bluto Blutarsky - ..."LET'S DO IT !!!!!!

Tara is a Rutgers grad and knows the system quite well - her well written piece the other day is quite objective and is a Must Read
