OT: Abe Vigoda dead at 94

The Godfather did Abe a big favor having that guy play a young Tessio. He never looked nearly as good as that young guy.

Hopefully,he's at a place now where it won't be necessary to ask to be taken off of the hook.

Took a minute and looked for a picture of young Vigoda and only found this from 1951 Jimmy Durante show.

Tessio technically decommitted from the Corleone family. Was Michael blamed for the flip.

I was very fortunate to know Mr Vigoda when I was in high school back in the late 90's.. He was a regular at a ice cream store in Ringwood that I worked at and always told me stories about the film business.. It's because of him that I went to film school and now work in the business.. Going to miss you, Abe.

Did he live in Ringwood?

Yeah, his daughter lives in Ringwood. He spent some time here in the 90s and early 2000s, but heard he went to a senior home at some point.

Wow.......surprised he was still alive. As someone suggested he looked old about 40 years ago. Good for him to make it to 94!

I always will remember him as 'Fish' in the Barney Miller Sitcom. He was the Detective who spent most of his day on the toilet and
would always make his entrance in a scene after the sound of a toilet flushing.

Knew him first as Fish, since Barney Miller started in '74, when I was 12 and hadn't seen the Godfather yet. I remember first watching the Godfather a couple of years later and exclaiming, "Fish!" as soon as I first saw Tessio.

I never saw The Godfather until after Barney Miller had completed its run. So it was odd to watch him in a serious role.
