"Stewart, who grew up in what he described as a “mostly white, affluent neighborhood” in Marin County in Northern California, played basketball at Santa Barbara City College. He claims he drew Division I interest from Rutgers and other schools before suffering an injury in a dirt bike accident and moving to Hollywood to pursue an acting career."

I believe Salami was a Van Patton.Great show. We got a peek at black culture in the 70's that we really don't get today.

I liked the episode where he trash talked the center for the Harlem Globetrotters before the tip off of Carver's game with them . "My first shot is gonna be a turnaround jumper, and you know where it's gonna go." The guy stood up to his full height, looked down at Coolidge, and replied, "In your face". Classic TV.

So, you're telling me that we could have had a frontcourt with Jammin' James and Coolidge but a dirt bike accident destroyed our dream? We never catch a break!

Liked the episode where Jefferson was mixed up with a bookie, and was either blowing out or making games close to cover the spread on his high school team

This show was a farm system for future TV and film directors. Salami (Timothy Van Patten) Heyward (Thomas Carter) and Thorpe (Kevin Hooks) all directed TV shows and movies. Van Patten directed several Sopranos episodes.
