So, comparable to our visit to Kennesaw State because of Bailey and Davis, Alabama is playing at North Dakota because of Grant Nelson, who's from there.
Differences, similarities?

Down 1 with 3 to go. Without Seers I don't know how good they'd be.The Fighting Hawks are winning 36-33
Ha ha ha
just because Bama was stupid enough to do it and nearly lose a game doesnt make it any less stupid that Rutgers did it
that..and oh they ended up winning the gameTo be fair if you’re going to have a top 10 team you can more afford to take that risk as a lot would need to go wrong for you to miss the tournament
You complain about Pike ‘s out of conference schedule more than anyone on these boards. He finally scheduled a challenging out of conference schedule with Kennesaw and Princeton and Vegas where he was supposed to play Alabama and Houston and you still complain. We shouldn’t have to play sisters of the poor. Pike never thought for a second we would lose to Kennesaw or that it would be close. But it happened. Your kill of his scheduling is off base when you have 2 of the best players in college basketball on your team.just because Bama was stupid enough to do it and nearly lose a game doesnt make it any less stupid that Rutgers did it
you have 2 of the best players in college basketball on your team.
ACE is averaging 17.9 per game and his rebounding is on the uptick. That happens to be 3rd in the country for freshman and probably top 30 for all college basketball. I know everyone wants him to be a 25-30 point per game guy and have the impact of Dylan , who might have the # 1 impact in the entire country , but he is just behind. Monster games are coming. One of the best players (the best player?) in college basketball.
And one giant bundle of potential.
You’re missing the point. Bac knows what he’s talking about when it comes to schedule making. Beating KSU offers nothing. It’s also a major trap game and a huge stain on the resume. Not to mention, the game was on a Sunday and we had a game in Vegas that Tuesday. That’s a crazy travel schedule. Then there’s Princeton. Why? Why are we playing them. Pike clearly has not figured them out (hopefully he does this year) and again it’s barely a Q2 game and has the potential to be a quad 3 loss. And it’s also a major major trap game because of the way they play. Pike and co did us no favors with this schedule. Way too many landmines that offer zero value. That type of stuff matters when you’re a bubble team. You already have SHU as a trap/rivalry game. Why add two more. That’s three OOC games that were destined to be slugfests but offer nothing to our tournament resumeYou complain about Pike ‘s out of conference schedule more than anyone on these boards. He scores a lot of points because he takes a lot of shots. He has not been particularly efficient. Scoring 17.9 per game on its own does not make you one of the best players in college basketball. Where he ranks among freshman is irrelevant; he's not playing for a freshman team.ACE is averaging 17.9 per game and his rebounding is on the uptick. The focus should not be on ACE or Dylan but how can the supporting cast be more consistent and contribute. When they do , this team will take off and go on a serious winning streak.
If their coach thinks they need points Nelson is on the floorCliff only played 14 minutes with 5 rebounds and 1 point?
keensaw and princeton are not challenging...its stupid to do it, no upside, if Pike never thought we would lose to kennesaw that either he is clueless or he overestimated his recruitsYou complain about Pike ‘s out of conference schedule more than anyone on these boards. You’re missing the point. They are not trap games when the thought was you would have a superior team that would win the game easily. You have to play someone decent and stay away from the 300 NET teams. You’re missing the point. Bac knows what he’s talking about when it comes to schedule making. Beating KSU offers nothing. Saying Princeton is not challenging is a ridiculous statement from you. Princeton over the last 10 maybe 20 years has always been a challenging opponent for everyone that has ever played them.keensaw and princeton are not challenging...its stupid to do it, no upside, if Pike never thought we would lose to kennesaw that either he is clueless or he overestimated his recruits
playing at Kennesaw state and neutral site Princeton does not impress the selection committeeYou’re missing the point. They are not trap games when the thought was you would have a superior team that would win the game easily. You have to play someone decent and stay away from the 300 NET teams.
The travel argument with Kennesaw has been debunked as bullshit since we played 3 of our best games 2 days after, 3 days after and 6 days after.
Princeton is a long time rival. It was hell back in the 70’s when there were only 32 teams in the NCAA and Princeton had tremendous teams and a great coach. They recently made the tourney 2 years ago and had a pretty good run and no one in college basketball thinks playing Princeton is going to kill your resume. You are going to be challenged and hopefully with our 2 studs we will win. No one respects what Maryland is doing now. It was what BAC has railed about for years about Pike ‘s scheduling and frankly as a season ticket holder I can not stand it. It is happening across the country and teams are challenging themselves out of conference and Princeton is not in the top 50 like some of these other teams are challenging themselves. The committee has emphasized playing a better schedule even if you lose. If they don’t do well in the Big 10 and finish 8-10 or 9-11 , their schedule will leave them home with no tourney even if they are 8-0 in Quad 4 blowouts.
Seton Hall is not a trap game it is a yearly rivalry game. You want to get rid of that.
Your argument that let’s make the path the easiest possible is not cutting it with today’s NCAA committee. You should be thankful we have 2 of the best players in college that Rutgers showcases every night. The entire country and media is tuned into Rutgers not just the BIG 10 and cannot wait for the next game. Enjoy the ride but because we are a young and have a lot of transfers it will be bumpy at times.
Bac knows what he’s talking about. RU playing at KSU right before Vegas and Princeton at a Neutral site doesn’t make sense. It’s been explained numerous times why. You’re missing the point. It adds to the big upgrade to the out of. Conference schedule. For the last 8 years our OOC has been 310-345. It is I believe 145 now. So one less thing the committee can use against us.playing at Kennesaw state and neutral site Princeton does not impress the selection committee
zero upside for a resume
You are thick. Seton hall except for this year and for most of the last 10 years has been the better team and either a Quad 1 or Quad 2 game . What type of silly statement you make “ Seton Hall already adds nothing “. Come on now that has not been the case for the last 10 years.Bac knows what he’s talking about. RU playing at KSU right before Vegas and Princeton at a Neutral site doesn’t make sense. It’s been explained numerous times why.
Also, at no point did I say let’s make the path as easy as possible. Heck, I didn’t even insinuate that. Good try though. I want competitive games that add value. Not competitive games that add nothing or might be seen as a bad loss. How this has been explained multiple times and people still don’t get it, is beyond me.
And no I don’t want to get rid of SHU. But that’s the point. SHU already adds nothing. Don’t add another two games that will add nothing and also be trap games.
You’re going to ignore all of this anyway, so I’ll stop
Seton Hall is a quad three game this year. We keep them on the schedule because they are a rival. But we beat them by 3 and we dropped in the Net, so yeah it adds nothing this year. Yes, historically they’ve added to the schedule. This year, though unfortunately not. Also, two years again, it was a quad 3 loss. Which again, that makes the Princeton and KSU games even worse. Go schedule teams that add value. You are thick. Seton hall except for this year and for most of the last 10 years has been the better team and either a Quad 1 or Quad 2 game . What type of silly statement you make “ Seton Hall already adds nothing “. Come on now that has not been the case for the last 10 years.
Every game we play according to you is a “ trap game “ How in the world is Princeton ever a trap game. These are old time rivalries , just like Xavier playing Cincinnati or Rhode Island playing Providence or Iowa State playing Iowa or Missouri playing Illinois or Creighton playing Nebraska. Nebraska has beaten Creighton the last 2 years but you don’t hear McDermott say he doesn’t want to play them anymore. The games I cited involve rivals from different conferences and the teams do not have to play the games but they continue to be played because they normally are tremendous hard fought games against rivals. Good basketball
thats because we played in Vegas..full stopIt adds to the big upgrade to the out of. Conference schedule. For the last 8 years our OOC has been 310-345. It is I believe 145 now. So one less thing the committee can use against us.
Well Pike has never scheduled Vegas type games so that is part of it but we do not have 4-6 300+ teams on the schedule. Wagner, St. Peter’s , Monmouth and Merrimack , Kennesaw State , Princeton and Columbia has a mixture of 100 and 200 teams and only 2 300 teams and no way he thought Monmouth was a 300 team before the season .thats because we played in Vegas..full stop
I will not ever crucify a team for losing any 1 game. Frankly, kenpom is wrong to penalize teams heavily for single "bad" losses as any team can have them - even number 1 seeds. If you can't beat Kennesaw State on the road, maybe you don't deserve to be in the tournament. People complain about scheduling tougher games, then we lose a few tougher games scheduled and people are still complaining. Just win games.
Like I said, this game was a landmine and just blew up our season. Thank you PikeYou are thick.
