Yordani Ventura of the Royals killed in a car crash. He was 25.

Ugh.

Your post was the first I've heard of this and I haven't read a thing.
I'm gonna guess the accident happened in the Dominican Republic.
RIP

Its everywhere. Twitter, sportscenter, Internet.

Well, you spelled his first name wrong, and I searched the name you typed in quotes.

Royals pitcher Yordano Ventura, who awed fans with his precocious talent and scintillating fastball, was killed in a traffic accident in his native Dominican Republic, the team confirmed Sunday morning. Ventura was 25.

Thanks. Player's name was spelled wrong in OP.

Saw that earlier. They are now saying that he was under the influence. Crazy thing if true is that he was supposedly very close with the Cardinal's player who also died last year from injuries sustained from a car crash while driving under the influence. Tragic, sad, and stupid if true.

I played winter ball there, any time we got in a car and drove between cities, we were scared to death
I'll never forget when I went there for vacation. We're going around bends and youll see 10 people in the bed of a Piickup truck going around sharp turns

Yup. My bad.

If you are a true fanatic you have seen every name on line ,in a box score on MLB. Very sad indeed regardless of the circumstances.

. DR has the higest death by auto per capita then any other country so I was told while on vacation there. I also no why they play ball so hard to get off that island, once was enough for me never to return.

Spent a bunch of time there. We're they on motorcycles?

Motorcycles outnumber cars on the road by 3 to one., maybe more. And you see them speeding and zipping in and out of traffic. Seeing 3 or 4 people on one motorcycle is pretty common too. No helmets. When they go down it can be pretty bad. I've never seen an ambulance there either, although I'm guessing they have them. I have seen them loading people into the bed of a small police pickup truck to take them to the hospital.

Can't even describe to you the horrific accidents we saw while playing there.
We had a team bus or you could drive yourself to away games, no air, no beer and no food was better than driving yourself, even the native players rode the bus.

On off days we'd go no where near crowded roads or paved highways, there was a maze of rural dirt roads that took us to several beaches in those days…if you ran over a goat or a chicken, don't stop, there was usually a farmer with a machete very close by.
