OT: Ash vs Pikiell

Pikiell has hired good staff but haven't seen many changes yet as he just started.

Ash you can tell is really changing program and culture. You hear it from player interviews ect ..For that reason I'm more impressed with ash.

Both!!! They appear to be cut from the same cloth. They are aggressive, dedicated and hardworking. Very happy to have them at RU!!!

AD Hobbs....sorry, I had to do it.

Ash is already doing a lot, Pikiell is off to a great start with the staff.....Tough call.

Pikiell has a tougher job....We will sell out FB games this year....we are a long long way from selling out basketball games.....So if Pikiell turns this ship around I will be so so impressed, moreso then what Ash can ever do, barring a FB playoff appearence...

More excited about Ash as a coach so far (mostly because we know how he's completely changing the offense and defense).

While Pikiell has as good of a staff as I could have ever wished for, I still don't know much about his changes yet other than he actually cares about defense.

football is much much much more better situated and supported to succeed in the Big 10. RU finally showed that they are ready to support hoops with the hiring of a competant and respected staff for once but there is a long way to go to improving RU's terrible perception amongst NJ recruits and coaches

I would simply prefer to look at it as Pikiell + Ash, not vs. Coach P has put together what appears to be a great staff so I expect that to be reflected in recruiting next year (hopefully this year but it is late in the game). We are moving forward in both areas. Let's keep it going

Love what both guys have done:

- Ash has put together the best staff, arguably, in Rutgers Football history; (EDIT) PIkes may have just done the same

- Both plan to lead with D

- Ash's recruiting impact has taken a few months. If we can get the NC State twins to transfer here, over a few other options they're looking at, Pikes will be off to a GREAT start IMHO

- Ash has completely changed the attitude, et al, around the program. IMHO you can see that this is the intention of PIkes, as well, but he may just go about it a tad differently. Bringing the S&C guy over from SB was a slick move, hiring him under the athletic department budget, but having it made known that while overseeing 23 sports (not football), Men's Hoops will be his major area of focus.

Both of these guys have coached at/for proven winners and both of them PLAN to win here, period, no questions asked.

Tom Young never had Dickie V or Valvano on his staff. Apparently you didn't major in History at RU.

Tom Young had Art Perry and Eddie Jordan on his staff, was playing hoops with both the night the decided to leave for ODU in the middle of the summer. Few weeks earlier Chris Dailey was there and said she was off to UCONN. Was fun playing there in the summer with staff, alumni and students

My bad. I always get it mixed up forget that Young wasn't there that early and that Dickie V recruited Sellers before young go to The Banks. Duh. I'm not quite that old, however, should know better.

Okay so maybe this IS the best hoops staff ever put together at RU????
