Abby Wambach is obnoxious. Couldn't stomach all the credit she got during last summer's World Cup win. She got about as much playing time as the Monmouth Bench Mob.
In all fairness she is the the all time leading scorer in the history of women's soccer. So she earned the right for her story to be told.
The bad blood goes back to when she started ragging on the foreign born National team guys as not being American etc. Etc.
There is alot of bad blood just with her and her big mouth
Trash talking comes out in sports when results aren't there to show anything
She comes off like such a macho man. She annoys me.
Now she'll complain that if she were a famous MALE athlete they would have just given her a warning.I guess your right since she was just busted for DUI last night
Actually, she completely owned up to the DUI. Said it was a mistake on her part and apologized to everyone. Said it would not happen again. Now she'll complain that if she were a famous MALE athlete they would have just given her a warning.
Very good point about how the US Women have an easy road compared to the men. Title IX has resulted in US female athletes having great advantage over women from most of the rest of the world, save China, perhaps.
How about this.. if the US Womens team can beat the mens team, they get paid more.
On a more serious note.. look at the very big picture. If the womens team does bring in more in sponsorship, TV revenue, gear sales, results payouts.. they should be paid accordingly. On the other hand, if it is a case where the US Mens team has to pay at a certain level or they will not attract the top players, then this is really market forces at work. the women are cheaper to hire because they are willing to work for less.. perhaps because they have fewer entities (or less well-funded entities) competing for their services.
Perhaps the women should boycott. Strike. Test the waters.. see what they are worth.
Seemed like a heartfelt apology. But I never understand the part about "I take full responsibility" you always see in these apologies. If you have too much to drink and then get behind the wheel of a car, who else could there possibly be to take "responsibility" for that?Actually, she completely owned up to the DUI. Said it was a mistake on her part and apologized to everyone. Said it would not happen again.
