OT.Beau Biden dies of brain tumor, so sad, Joe has had many painful events happen.

Just shows that, again, money and power can not stop cancer. Parents must be devastated. Hopefully, the Bidens become leaders against the cancer fight - they'd be great leadership. My son goes to Delaware and met Joe Biden - said he was very personable, friendly and genuine.

Despite the political differences, my heart goes out to Joe Biden and his family. What a terrible thing to live through. Terrible for them, and terrible for Beau Biden's wife and children. I just don't have the words to convey how much I share this loss.

Tragedies like this make all of us understand ,despite our differences, there are some things that are bigger than our political beliefs and we can come together to offer sympathy to the Biden family.
My condolences go out to the Biden family and all that knew and cared for Beau Biden

Joe's a good guy (we got our German Shepherds from the same breeder, at the same time). His "gaffes" are because he counts himself among those of us who have no filter. I don't agree with his politics, for the most part, but he is a VERY relatable guy.

Yeah, it has always seemed to me that criticisms of Biden's "gaffes" miss the mark. Quite simply, he's endured such painful loss in his life that he sees the bigger picture, i.e., what's really important and what's not. So he says what he thinks, to hell with how someone might characterize it. In short, who gives a damn about political embarrassments when you've lost a wife and child (and now, sadly, another)?

Leave it you to be the sole douche in a sea of classy posts. You really suck dude.
Hey dildo. I checked wikipedia. There was no record of any awards - just law work. in an age where so many have sacrificed so much I tend to check claims of "Decorated" - especially for a guy with deep political connections (like John Kerry?)

If he was awarded a Bronze Star then my question was answered - the rest of you who attacked me can suck a bag of dicks.

Losing family members early and saying incredibly stupid things are exclusive of each other.

I feel bad for the former and don't excuse the latter because of it.

Who's asking you to excuse anything? A guy died of brain cancer in the prime of his life. How are his father's political gaffes germane to this topic at all?

I bet that if it were Sean Hannity's son you would not have spent the energy to check his military credentials before offering your condolences.

Just read up on Joe Biden, he lost his first wife and his baby girl in a car accident back in 1972.
Yes, and took the train from Delaware to DC every morning to have breakfast with his 2 young sons, and took the train back to Delaware every night to have dinner with them and tuck them into bed at night. To me, he's aces as a parent and a man. And to whitebus, did you see some of the arguments in this thread, and wonder why I thought maybe it was deleted, lol?

You must have missed RedSpartan's post. "Yeah, it has always seemed to me that criticisms of Biden's "gaffes" miss the mark. It was in response to that. This isn't the thread to discuss Biden's often unintelligent remarks. They stand on their own. Losing family members sucks. Badly. I feel for everyone who does, including Joe Biden.

A few things...

One, I didn't bring up Biden's "gaffes;" 4Real did (and not in a disrespectful way) and I was simply adding my thoughts to that. 4Real didn't seem to mind.

Two, if you are going to respond to me, hit the "Reply" button on my post, so everyone can see what you're talking about. It helps keep the conversation focused.

Three, you seem to have missed the intended point of my post. Perhaps I didn't express it very well. I am not asking anyone to excuse the dumb things anyone says due to family tragedy. Indeed, to your point, they are exclusive. I mean, George Bush's baby sister died when he was a kid, and I don't think that excuses any of the idiotic things that have come out of his mouth. Same with Reagan's father and Obama's mother passing away when they were young. What I meant was that criticisms of Biden miss the mark because they don't have the intended effect. For criticism to work, the target has to care, and I don't think Biden does. He's dealt with some tough blows in life and knows what really matters (family) and gives zero ****s about what does not (point scoring in politics).

This seems to be devolving into his gaffe's thread. Biden a side, if someone says stupid things all the time, especially as it relates to the job they have had their whole life, and doesn't care, well that is pretty disrespectful. That person is likely a moron.

I think Joe Biden cares a lot about what comes out of his mouth. Lots of people have had hardships in life. That isn't a license to say stupid things with no care. That especially holds true for people in public positions.

You seem to have missed my point again. I agree that Biden likely cares what comes out of his mouth. What I said is that he doesn't care about people criticizing him for it. Sticks and stones and all that. Someone can certainly take pride in, and care about, what they do and how they do it, without caring about what others think. I think Biden falls into that category. The opposite end of the spectrum would be our governor.

Whatever the case, it seems like Beau was a fine young man, and the condolences from people on both sides of the aisle to Joe and the Biden family on their loss are genuine. Which makes sense, as I've had many friends work on Capitol Hill and they all tell me that Biden is universally respected by just about everyone, left and right. (Incidentally, the Late Frank Lautenberg was another, as is current NJ Representative Rodney Frelinghuysen.)

With three young ones myself, I can't imagine having any of them pass on before me. And I certainly hope no one on these boards ever has to deal with that, either. There but for the grace of God...

Yes, and for years he has been publicly spouting the lie that his wife was killed by a drunk driver, when the truck driver that hit his wife's car was found to be not at fault for the accident (Biden's wife was) and that alcohol was not involved.

The mistake in this thread is that people are acting like Joe Biden can't have experienced an unimaginable amount of family tragedy AND be a total slimeball himself.

Do you think Kerry's and Biden's jobs would have been any less dangerous if they had not received medals? They were willing to put their lives on the line for the sake of OUR country. I have the highest respect for anyone who is willing to do that, whether they be conservative or liberal. The fact that you try to make a political statement out of that is, at a minimum, very disturbing IMO.
