Well it looks like RU will for sure be playing at the opening session. Most likely the nightcap on Tue Feb 28. What is the best way to get tickets? Stubhub is selling them for $19.99 each. I imagine the crowds will be sparse. Also rolling in for the 2nd game shouldn't the ticket prices be pretty low? What is everyone planning on doing to get tickets?

I am excited for this. I saw my first Knicks game this season, and obviously support Rutgers a lot more. I plan on going.

Are there 2 games on 2/28? What are the times? 7 and 9:30?

Last year the B1G tourney in DC had the 12/13 game at 4:30pm and the 11/14 game at 7pm.

cheaptickets.com has GA tickets going for $4 each right now by far the best deal out there now but with service and shipping fee comes out to about $25 total for 2 tickets. Not going to find a better deal than that for college hoops at MSG. None of these will be e-tickets so there will be a shipping fee with all tickets.

Link? I don't see on their site. I'm on mobile tho.

used the Vivid Seats link on the Big Ten site, 4 tickets with fees/Fedex charge came out to $55

With just one win, a lot of things need to happen to avoid playing Wednesday. Now, if we win two games, avoiding the opening round would be almost assured.

I know finishing 10th is better look than say 11th or 12th but I would frankly rather see RU play opening round with a much better chance for a tourney win and then decent chance for a 2nd....than perhaps one and done starting Thurs. I don't have any inflated dreams of them shocking the world....but just want to see us win a few in our back yard....and getting an early win on opening day could help. (my opinion).

It's not unreasonable to believe that we could avoid the first round if we win one more game.

assuming RU beats Illinois but loses its other 2 and finishes 4-14 RU will be in a 4 way tiebreaker with Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin all at 4-14. Wisconsin must lose all 4 of its final games including Minnesota. Minnesota must beat Wisconsin but most lose its other 2 including Iowa. Iowa needs to beat Minny but lose to Indiana and Northwestern both home games. Illinois needs to lose it at least another game..

since they are going by win percentage even if the numbers of games played vs each team is unequal, Iowa still comes out ahead at 3-1 vs RU 2-1 and would then be placed 10th.

RU: 2-1
Iowa: 3-1
Minn: 2-2
Wisc: 0-3

B. Multiple team tie:

1. Results of head-to-head competition during the regular-season. a. When comparing records against the tied teams, the team with the higher winning percentage shall prevail, even if the number of games played against the team or group are unequal (i.e., 2-0 is better than 3-1, but 2-0 is not better than 1-0).

b. After the top team among the tied teams is determined, the second team is ranked by its record among the original tied teams, not the head-to-head record vs. the remaining team(s).

does general admission mean you can sit anywhere in the arena?
according to the "valuable" chat I just had with a rep..."as long as the GA ticket doesn't specify a section you can sit elsewhere"

completely worthless feedback (today's standard). this ought to be real interesting...but I figured I'd find a good seat regardless day 1.

the last two weeknight games have drawn maybe 300-400 students max...how in the world do you expect them to travel to MSG and take hours out of their time for a weeknight game when they cannot bother to take a bus across campus or walk out of their dorm for 2 minutes.

your scenerio would work if the students actually care about hoops right now or if the team was 17-11

Looks like game 1 is going to be 5:30 with game 2 at (probably) 8:00. Last year when it was in DC doors opened an hour beforehand, so probably the same thing here. So I'll see you all there at 4:30 for the rush for the floor seats.

does general admission mean you can sit anywhere in the arena?
I was curious about what exactly this meant. My questions was, does the general admission go for the whole arena or certain sections. The answer was found buried on the Big Ten website section about the Tournament. The General Admission will apply to the "whole arena" except those sections designated for Big Ten School Tournament Sales. Translation, people who bought tickets through RU, got tickets in at least section 108. There may be other sections. Therefore, the general admission ticket holder could not sit in section 108 and so forth. I guess the only real way to know if to pack the garden and find out.

I agree with whomever said, Hobbs should fill 10 buses for every game we play.

If you're an Indiana fan (to pick a school at random) and the Hoosiers are the #8 seed, it's doubtful you're going to MSG to see Rutgers vs. Iowa and Illinois vs. Minnesota, or whatever it ends up being. I assume that even Purdue/Michigan State sales blocks include tickets for Session 1, so there will be a lot of empty sections due to that, no?

I now need to revise my answer. I am holding my tickets for the Tournament. The session 1 ticket is marked General Admission. All the others have a specific section and seat location.

So I can now confirm, day one is first come, first serve, sit anywhere you want.

Were the tix delivered to you today?

is there a place where Rutgers fans can meet pre-event? Anybody thinking of doing something to organize? Court Club?

We really need to represent (while we're in it) for the simple fact this is our backyard and it won't be coming around again any time soon I would imagine.

And even though general admission day one..IF we're playing day 1 would be best to sit together as group in view of TV cameras.

If general admission then is any section, any seat (other than those reserved for B1G schools allocation), then I question why seating in different sections on vivid seats have vastly different pricing

The decision to move to GA for day 1 was made relatively recently. StubHub seems to be the only reseller that's caught up.

People set their own prices on resale sites, which Vivid Sests is despite being the "official" site for this event. If someone doesn't realize day 1 is GA and buys an expensive ticket, oh well.

man, and we talk here about how RU screws the season tix purchaser.....talk about pulling the rug out from under folks who bought early.

I would be one of them. I bought the complete tourney to be guaranteed a good seat and not have to deal with the secondary market. I had no idea the opening day was general admission. If I did, I would have thought about buying the whole set. I guess if we make it to day 2, I have a great seat location.

For those that still want info from my experience last year...

- If you want prime seats, you still want to get there ahead of the first game (if Rutgers is not already the first game). Last year, I missed the first game to catch Rutgers in the second game of the night at the Verizon Center.

- Those that watched the first game... a good chunk still tend to stick around even when their team is already done. Especially if they picked up awesome seats.

- The participating schools get a good chunk of rows reserved for friends and family.

- That being said, last year Maryland did not play in the first session, so it was a lot of fans that came in from out of town. You would probably be fighting other Rutgers fans for good seats. Hopefully a good problem to have. Last year, even then, my party of 3 had our pick of corner section seats. If you think you can show up for the second game and get middle section seats, you have to scope strategically to those that didn’t stay for the second game. Otherwise, corner section it is.

- Even though you might think it’s only team fans, you forget there is still random people that just want to catch a basketball game for cheap just for the hell of it

- Student attendance might be pretty decent depending on bus offering. If there are no personal obligations, students get a free ride into the city. Probably end up hanging out and not taking the bus back.

Just bought 2 general admission tickets for Wednesday on Stub Hub. Listed as $6 each, ends up being $12.50 each after taxes/fees. So $25 for two tickets, not bad at all.

Buy 'em up RU fans !!

Here's the real question.... if we win, how do we get tickets for the Thursday game??!?! (optimistic RU fan)
