OT- "Bryce Harper joining Yankees inevitable"

He does look like he belongs playing for the Bronx Bombers.
We'll take him.
Good. Yankees like over paying for free agents. I don't care if he's 25 either. You've won 1 World Series in 16 years and have had the highest payroll every year. I hope your idiot GM continues to over sign and over pay like he used too. Although I think he realized it didn't work. Has a lot to show for it.

His dad was a huge Yankees fan and Mantle fan. Who knows but he is way overrated. I don't care what the Yankees pay for a player. Doesn't come out of my pocket

Do you just make up facts to let everybody know how bitter of a human being you are. Even if you chose to take an arbitrary number like 16 years you are still wrong. Furthermore just because the Dodgers moved to LA doesn't mean their payroll doesn't count.

Oh Boy does that poster fabricate information .... apparently it's habitual.... just ask him about Taylor Ham in north Jersey.

I remember seeing Harper at the Blueclaws when he was first coming up. His first at-bat he blasted a pitch over the right field wall and just sat there at home plate & admired his work before running the bases. I knew then I would hate that guy even if he was the next Mickey Mantle.

The next time up, the pitcher drilled him in the ribs the first pitch. It was awesome. Baseball how it's meant to be played.

I think Cashman has done an excellent job over the years and you are wrong to blame over paying and the high payroll on him and is more on the Steinbrenners giving those huge contracts.

And you say 1 ws in 16 years but i can counter and say how many of those years did they make the playoffs? Off the top of my head id say 13...what other clubs are close to that...

And 16years would be 99, so that would be 3 ws 99,00,09 plus 2 they lost

Just curious whats your team because mets or red sox fans shouldnt talk

Whats worse staring at a no doubt about it home run crushed or purposely throwing a baseball at a batters ribs?

That is the stupidest thing in ALL of sports.

And to make it worse you just drilled Harper in the ribs, now when your teams all-star home run hitter comes up, I can drill him in the ribs.

Learn to count before you spout off. Sixteen years ago brings us to June 1999, so the best sports franchise in the US has won three championships -99, 00 and 09 - since then.

Yep, I see RutgersRob already said this, but it was such a boner on your part that it's worth making fun of you all over again.

I can see both points. I don't like just whipping the ball into him as some misguided payback for hitting an HR, but if he hit that HR by cheating over the plate to increase his sweet spot, then it's just good sports strategy. Back him off that plate by giving him something to fear.

Interesting nonsensical thread when half the respondents are on my ignore list, lol.

As for Harper, great player, still very young. Would love to have him on the Yankees, but he'll need to reign it in a lot to play here. Has a reputation as a jackass.

We'll see what the Nats do, but I don't think they fear letting players go if they think they'll be overpaying. A year ago, I would have said that what Harper likely would demand would be too much, but the way he's playing this season (and I don't mean just since the hot streak in May, as he's been walking a lot more and just playing more intelligently), I'd say that he might well be worth whatever he demands, particularly since he's going to be a lot younger than the average free agent.

He is not going to be a Yankee. I know that upsets the all time whore organization in the history of the world...but whatever. A few months ago I remember reading posts that Matt Harvey would eventually be a Yankee. Funny how that talk has dried up. Nothing like a bad 3 week stretch to turn off the all time front running fans in baseball history.

That probably made sense when it was swimming around in your head. It might even have been a downright scathing attack on all things NYY. But it got all muddled in translation and ended up looking like something a crazy homeless guy peeing outside of Fenway might mutter to himself.

this thread is the standard "conversation" between yankee haters and yankee fans:

The dumbest thing about the Yankees and their fans is they think they are entitled to every superstar player, the Yankees are screwed if the top guys stop hitting free agency which is the way baseball is going.

Here's why: Harper is eligible to become a free agent in 2019, and the Yankees will have enormous contracts — those of slugger Alex Rodriguez, first baseman Mark Teixeira, outfielder Carlos Beltran, third baseman Chase Headley and closer Andrew Miller — off the books. The Yankees will have a ton of money to spend on Harper, who could be a megastar by then, if he isn't already.

Additionally, if the Yankees decline options on other players, including outfielder Brett Gardner and catcher Brian McCann, they'll have even more money to spend.

So is Harper just going to play half the positions then? Because the author is talking like NY isn't going to try to fill any of those holes he just mentioned.

Yet another gem of a post on the moron scale.

It's low Single A. One guy who will make the majors & all the other guys are 18-22 year olds getting paid a couple thousand bucks to play the game they love before they get real jobs.

25 years from now that pitcher can be at a bar somewhere telling the story how he got payback on one of the superstars of the game.

Somewhere I've got a picture of it. I'll have to dig it up & post it.

Upon further review, it was a shot to the upper thigh. I'm sure the pitcher already imbellished it to a head shot though!

So RUChip's nonsense extends to other sports too? thats what I learned from this thread. he prob thinks the Spurs are overrated and haven't won a title in the last five years?? #RUChipmath

I can't imagine that all Yankee fans are as delusional as those in this thread. The Nationals will never let him reach free agency. He'll get a Trout type of deal to buy out his arb and early free agency years.

Harper's agent is the dreaded Scott Boras, who rarely has his free agents sign early, plus Boras has a good relationship with Cashman and the Yankees. Also , Harper is a rarity in that he will reach his free agent year so early in his career. Also, Harper , if he is so interested, might get many more endorsements playing for the Yanks rather than for the low profile Nats. Of course, I said all this with Mike Trout, and he wound up signing ahead of his free agency year, so you never know, lol.

I hear you bro.

He's going to be a free agent in 2019. After this season, they will offer him a contract for 6-8 years at 25+ million per year. No agent would turn that down because of the uncertainty of the player's health before he reaches free agency.

If he ever plays for the Yankees, he will be in his mid thirties when they finally acquire him.

Heard they played "Barbie Girl" as he rounded the bases too lol.

Still, as a Yankee fan, I would welcome him ... if he were in his mid-twenties or younger. Tired of the overpaying for aging players. Plus, they have quite a few OF prospects coming up, including Aaron Judge. I'm not that optimistic about this one. We'll see.
