Need advice.... They were right underneath the garbage can. Should I spray, put out bait or not bother since they're not in the house.
I recommend spraying that area at the very least. The baits you can buy retail are not very effective. If you have weep holes in your brick siding, make sure you apply some pesticide to those as well. As it cools off, they will work their way into your house. If they are large roaches they are probably American or Oriental roaches, both of which are not hard to control. Water bugs/Palmetto bugs - same thing, they're called American cockroaches. They live outdoors in warm climates and come indoors, usually when it's especially cold or hot, in search of water. They're not to be confused with the smaller 'indoor' roaches, German cockroaches, which many of us probably had in our first apartments. Are you sure they're not water bugs?
LaCanada? I heard icy hot helpsThanks everyone. As stated in my avatar, I live in La Canada which neighbors Pasadena. As far as the weather is concerned, the coldest temperature in this area is about mid to high fifties. It does get hot and dry so they could try to get into the house looking for water or cooler temperatures. It was about 105 over the weekend. I'll definitely head over to Home Depot and ask them if Bengal Roach spray is right for my house.
