anyone else think the whole "i'm retiring thing" was all part of the promotion process? he's now saying "im not paid to promote, i'm paid to fight" - and now he wants back in to UFC 200.

You will have your answer when he is either (a) put back on the UFC200 card or (b) not put back on the card.

He has a point. He wants to fight not be a promoter 90% of the time.

Anyone else tired of Conor McGregor?
First interview I saw of him was a post fight from before he got big. Thought it was awesome. It was real, it was smart, it was funny.

It has completely devolved into a schtick that is no longer any of those things.

I still think he is an entertaining fighter though.

Personally I hope McGregor caves Nate Diaz' skull in.
It's such a tough matchup for him though. Nate is bigger, has a good chin, and great stamina, even if, like in the last fight, McGregor shows a talent advantage, Nate should be able to weather the storm and wear down the smaller fighter.

Stylistically makes for a great fight though.

It's all about money. That's it.

The dude is worth about $10MM. A lot of money? Sure. Driving a new Phantom every other day? No.

If he wants to keep making money which he will need to do if is claimed lifestyle is even half true, then he needs to fight. Whether that is in the MMA, WWE, or goes into boxing.

I know that Boxing has devolved into a 5th tier sport but has UFC become mainstream today? It's on TV a lot. I'm a casual watcher but I've never been certain about what kind of traction it's getting.

The purses are much, much smaller, so until those get in the same ball park, it is hard to say that MMA is as popular as boxing.

He is paid to fight and promote the fight. Of he just wants to fight then he should get paid much less accordingly.

Depends on how you define more popular. Do more people watch MMA on a regular basis while more people are more willing to pay big $$$ to see a big name boxing match once or twice a year?

I'm not even sure anymore as my interest in MMA has waned considerably. Not sure if that influences my belief that MMA peaked a couple years ago and has seen a bit of decline since.

It's all about money. When guys like Mayweather are pulling $100MM a fight, and a guy like McGregor is making $2MM a fight, boxing is more popular.

I got tired of him when he started trying to go the Ronda Rousey route, using Mayweathers name for attention. Look what happened to both of them. Floyd would trash them in both boxing and MMA by the way.

There are a number of must see boxers - Canelo, GGG, Ward, Crawford, Kovalev, Gonzalez - and a whole list of guys right behind them. Can't say the same is true for MMA.

Just my opinion but I think GGG is a hype job. For example he is a 135 to 1 favorite Saturday night and when he wins the media is going to go bananas. Ward called out GGG to fight at 168 lbs and GGG turned it down saying he wont go higher than 164. But on several occasions, like calling out Chavez and Froch, GGG was willing to move up to 168 for the right opponent.

First of all, if you think Floyd could beat a professional MMA fighter in the octagon then you're not very bright. That's like me saying Jon Jones could beat a high level boxer in the ring. Completely ridiculous.

When Mc gets $5 per PPV buy, then promoting the fight is part of the job. He also signed his contract so TS. If he doesn't like it then he can go fight for Bellator. He didn't mind running his mouth and talking shush when he was winning. He's just being a jackass because Nick's little brother clowned him.

MMA is definitely mainstream now. What Dana and the brothers have done in 15 years with their $2M investment (+ original TUF costs) is incredible. Dana is worth $180M and is only a 9% owner. One of the greatest business stories in history IMO.

I can't stand Mc because I'm a purist and Dana cleared the path to the title shot for him. All about the cheddar though so I get it.

I hope Diaz beats him to a pulp.

Floyd would win. His stamina in second to none and hits a lot harder than he gets credit for. But in MMA he wouldnt be wearing 8 oz gloves. After the first round against Diaz McGregor was gassed. Floyd would box his ears off in the ring or the octagon.

You're delusional. There is no grabbing and waiting for the ref to step in and reset you in MMA. You grab someone you sure as hell better have a game plan for what you are doing next. You can't run around and counter punch for an hour in MMA. Floyd would get his ass beat in an MMA match.

I'm also not sure what Mc being gassed has to do with anything. If we're going to talk about cardio in MMA, no MMA fan would even mention Mc.

My point was that McGregor's stamina isnt on Floyds level which would be huge in this situation because McGregor would spend alot of time chasing him around the octagon.

Fair enough. If I had to pick an MMA guy to fight Floyd, it sure as hell wouldn't be Mc. He's a one trick pony - striking. That doesn't make much sense if you are fighting one of the GOAT boxers. Oddly enough, I'd take Nate over Mc in that scenario. Absolutely would take Nurmagamedov. If Floyd grabbed him, he'd be on his back before he knew what happened. I love Cowboy, but his chin is suspect. Probably would take Ferguson as well.

You're crazy. all these top BJJ fighters would submit him in under a minute in MMA.

He can kick and grapple. If Floyd was running the whole time, he would still lose on a decision.

Floyd would get destroyed in an MMA match by any real professional.
