OT: Derek Fisher Fired

http://nypost.com/2016/02/08/knicks-fire-coach-derek-fisher/

Rambis interim HC for now. Brian Shaw and Luke Wilson are the first names coming out. Sounds like the only qualification to be Knicks HC is to be a former Phil Jackson player.

i wouldnt take Berman as gospel on this, hes not that clued in as others. Was not shocked by this, esp after the meeting phil had with players yesterday following the game. Mr. Dolan was not pleased since he was at the game yesterday for the first time in a couple of weeks. cant be down 19 to denver at home

Why not Van Gundy it Marc Jackson? Maybe even Tom Thibido from the bulls even though I probably butchered his name.

Rambis will be the interim for now and Phil will start looking before the draft in June for a new coach (even thought Knicks dont have a first rounder)

The Knicks have got to be one the most disfunctional franchises in sports. (behind the Browns).

When is Dolan/Jackson going to realize its not the coaching?? They won't win with these two running the show, and definitely won't with Carmelo.

What a joke.

Maybe they have our Eddie in-mind. Head or assistant position would take Rutgers off-the-hook for lots of money, and probably the best outcome for both parties involved.

I was caught by surprise on this firing. Knicks started off decent, but the recent slump doomed him.
Knicks are a .500 (+ or - 5 games) team at best, but the coach has to get players to buy into the system.
I do believe signing Carmelo to long term will hurt the team in the long run.
Unless they can bring in a big time free agent next year, it will be tough for the team.

Porzingis (spelling) was a gift, but not the new coach has to bring out his talents.
I was one of the many who were disappointed during the Ewing ERA, but man I wish the team had him now.

Maybe Luke Walton gets a chance. I would be "ok" with that hire (like my opinion matters).

This mistake of giving all that money to Carmelo, is going
to cost Phil big time. Bad, Bad decision the team is young, no
reason to keep Carmelo, he is a very old 31 year old, selfish ," hey
every body look at me, look how my arm sleeves, shoes, and head
band match." Yuk

The guy Phil wanted before Fischer was Kerr. Would have been interesting. Thibidoux (sic) should be in the running, as well as Walton. Knicks may be a point guard away from being a decent team. Should be interesting.

Never understood the logic of paying fisher that type of money. Based on what? Imagine what even someone like Luke Walton could ask for? Phil ought to just take the seat on the bench himself since some candidates like jvg won't get sniff.

Never been a big melo fan but I think he has been playing the best brand of team ball I have seen from him since joining the Knicks. Assists as defense notably improved.

You have no idea about the salary cap for next few years. It explains why LeBron James didn't sign a long term deal with Cleveland. Carmelo deal will look like chump change going forward. Besides, just because every idiots says Carmelo is the problem doesn't make it true. In fact the Knicks are far worse without him. His stats from this year and last year (when he did play) backs up the fact he's a team player and does more to get everyone involved. The Knicks management is just bad when it comes to gathering enough talent to be competitive. Owner Dolan sees the Knicks as nothing more than a trophy to showcase to his wealthy friends. He makes money on the Knicks (and Rangers) regardless of what the team(s) do record wise.
