OT: Dumbest Question Ever?

Until he answered I was like " seems like a very reasonable question"

Too funny

she should be fired and he was an ace answering that very unlike Tomlin who walked out on the contract question

what the reporter actually said was, "Doug, obviously you've been a black quarterback your whole life. When did race begin to matter to people?" Which was a perfectly reasonable question on a day when Williams was fielding hundreds of "black quarterback" questions. Problem was, Williams either misunderstood or didn't hear the question because he said, "How long have I been a black quarterback?"

it was meant as a joke actually as you say, after a full day of black qb questions.

I recently met him in the city as he came to my work. He seemed pretty nice but I spent my time with Carmichael who was just gracious, humble and a pleasure to talk to. Oh he did say the Steelers were the best defense he'd ever faced hands down.

That is really interesting! Definitely a "Mandela Effect" moment then, because I could have sworn I saw video of the question.

By the way, did anyone identify who this reporter was and who the represented?

Ummmmmm..........than that video in the OP must be a deep fake.
I thought you were referring to a difference question, the one about the black quarterback, Doug Williams.

Your question is a good one. That reporter asking about the weather in a domed stadium should be identified. However, the media, who normally delight in policing themselves, has not disclosed the reporter's identity.

I was going to ask the same thing. Wondering if it was a local general assignment/news TV reporter who never covers sports and was just doing a local interest, "Go Local Team!" segment for the news. Probably not interested in sports at all, but even so, no excuse not to do some basic research and gain some general knowledge about the assignment. There are more basic research tools at your fingertips than ever before. Your phone is a library of information.

She should have just responded, “I was focused more on whether the boys will be bringing enough Jergens since I know you’re not playing the game outside, silly.”

Dumb ass question for sure. Very emblematic of so-called “journalism”. I would have mocked her to her face, but props to him for taking the much higher road.

Deiah Riley out of Tampa

apparently she isn't a sportswriter and was sent due to no sportswriters being available. They all seem to be emmy winners which begs the questions, how many are given out and is there a standard?

Nice catch. No harm no foul on this one.

Regarding the Emmys, I'm skeptical of these awards. Earlier this week, news broke that ESPN had to return dozens of Emmy statues. ESPN hoodwinked the Emmy people into sending ESPN Emmy statues that ESPN re-engraved with the names of College GameDay hosts.

Not ESPN. Staffers

Some media people need to do their homework. This one ranks up there too, and may be even more embarrassing. You can listen to the audio of the radio show where the commentator didn’t know the race of the person she was talking to, then blames “her people” for giving her the wrong information. That’s almost as bad as her original mistake.

Whoops!

Props to Todd Bowles, by the way, for not humiliating the reporter. That’s a sign of true class. It reminded me of the time that a new reporter asked Schiano how to spell his name during a press conference. He just smiled and spelled it for her.

It’s also a dumb question to ask a coach or player “How does it feel to win the (insert name of championship game)? I mean, what should the person say? Isn’t it obvious?

Yeah. ESPN off-air people tricked the Emmy prima donnas into awarding Emmy prizes to make believe ESPN back-office staffers. The Emmy folks sent the trophies to ESPN corporate, where the ESPN off-air people had the trophies re-engraved with names of ESPN personalities. The intent was to boost the egos of the on-air talent.

College GameDay host we’re not directing the scheme and couldn’t understand why so many Emmy statues were being delivered to their homes. At least that’s what they say.

They're handed out like candy on Halloween.

That's many lengths behind the question Jim Plunkett faced: "Is it blind mother, deaf father or the other way around?"
