guess no one else is a linux geek

Is that one of those things that gets you on a watch list just for googling it?

Wasn't there a thread about this before? I personally have never used it, as I don't have a need to, but to each his own (Linux distro). I'll stick with standard distros for most stuff, and use tails or kali if I need something else.

I have. You're a fool to think that it's truly unmonitored. Some NERD you are.
ok NERD... so is it a good OS?

edit: also NERD, if you boot it on a USB stick, you can use any public computer.. ie library and if you are using public wifi with a laptop... so yes it can be anon

Interesting. Is this installable on a writable volume?

TAILS is a smilar concept, but can't be installed on writable volumes.

Now.. if I were the NSA, I'd secretly create and support a totally anon linux distro.. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

For the paranoid:

The NSA created SELinux, which has been part of the kernel for the better part of a decade.

I dual booted Windows and Ubuntu for awhile after being egged on by the usual merciless linux proselytizers lol. I found it kinda "tinkery" to use. Reminded me of manual film cameras vs digital. People are probably better off getting their own VPN service rather than Mofo version. Reliability varies from one to another and year to year. Updates are crucial

I run linux, but use a VPN (PIA, works great) for all my traffic, even at work. but will check this out. thanks.

I have not used the distro. Obviously you could build the same thing yourself. At the end of the day, you don't own the crypto libraries, or the tor exit nodes. But it certainly gives you more protections than most. You could also install an openvpn server at home and use that for casual security at places like hotels and starbucks. I guess you have to consider what you want to access and who you are protecting yourself from. If it's the casual hacker, then the distro should work well. If it's a state sponsored agency dedicated to national security, I wouldn't hold my breath.
