Fred and Nick Charles made CNN Sports Tonight a must see that put other sports-broadcasting shows, during that period, to shame.
It was so good it made ESPN’s SportsCenter step up their game.
I would watch this at 11pm since they would show Sportscenter repeats the rest of the night. I fondly remember the show the Giants beat the Bills......RIP
Most people today don't realize these guys were more popular than SportCenter at the time. Similar to posters above, I always watched these guys live and SC on re-runs. #RIP to Fred Hickman. Loved watching that guy.
Years ago on this forum I got into an argument with another poster over this.
I think he was much younger and didn’t remember or realize the competition between the two.
Those were the days before the internet when you really needed to tune in to get the scores and see the highlights. Craig Sager was also a co-host for this show at times. Sadly, all three of these guys died of some type of cancer at age 65, 65, and 66.
