OT: Garden chanting POR-ZING-IS !

I liked it, too. Wouldn't have minded KAT but didn't want Big Jah. So, 2 outta 3.

How could you have like the pick? There is no chance you ever saw him play. Its awesome that its working out and the Knicks scouts for once got it right, but how could you have liked it?

By January 1st all the bozos in the tri-state area, who like basketball BUT own Bulls, Laker, and Heat jerseys, and were dissin' the Knicks for making this pick, will have his jersey on walking around acting as-if they "knew" he was our savoir. I kid you not!

Love this guy (so far, lo...)!

For me it's easy. 1st I trust Phils judgment in talent evaluations. 2. I've never been the guy to think our college stars in America are ALWAYS the best top picks. 3. I love the European "coming to America" stars. 4. There's always at least one player that makes the Fans and analysts look like idiots. I wish I could share my facebook post on here. I simply posted "I like the pick" after everybody started raging against phil and KP.

I worked in the league and have contacts in player development as well as the individual franchises. People were *very* high on him, and there were several parties interested in trading up for him. Thus far, he's been "as advertised" - the question is more about his ceiling.

From an article in the Wall St Journal:

“Kristaps Porzingis” is a mouthful of marshmallows. “Kristaps” isn’t much catchier. Porzingis doesn’t seem like a “Kris,” either. “Porzingis” is fun to say—Porzingis!—but the NBA is a first-name league. Even Knicks president Phil Jackson is simply Phil.

Porzingis needs a nickname. So now the search is on for a title worthy of the 7-foot-3 rookie from Latvia—and it’s exactly as absurd as it sounds. Nothing is too crazy for consideration. On social media, for example, one of the most popular suggestions so far has been “Godzingis.” It’s slightly ahead of “Porzingod.”

“Porzingod just rolls off the tongue,” Knicks center Robin Lopez said.

This isn’t just a conversation for fans. Porzingis’s teammates are getting in on it, too. Knicks forward Kyle O’Quinn, for one, has hopped aboard the Godzingis train. “He’s got a clean look to him, you know what I’m saying?” he said Friday. “God was clean. So that’s what I call him.”

Then, to prove his point, he shouted “Godzingis!” and immediately had Porzingis’s attention. “See?” he said when Porzingis turned around. “He responds to that. So it works.”
