no more cuse reaches this year. both players are average at best and they spent a first (pugh) and third (bromley) round pick on each, when both should have gone much later. throw in nassib and they have drafted 3 of 14 picks in the last two years from cuse. what is the love affair, its not results in college or the nfl?

The love affair with Cuse stems from the fact that Coughlin is a Cuse graduate.

We can only hope that Reese has learned that Tom is biased towards Cuse players and to not take his advice when considering a player from Cuse.

The selection of Nassib was just mind-boggling. He did nothing in college to warrant being drafted ... period. Let alone in the 4th round. Throw in the fact that Eli had/has several more productive years left and the decision to select him was enough to give any Giant fan a brain aneurysm.

The first pick should be for a offensive linemen or pass rushing defensive linemen.

This is the dumbest thing I have ever read on these boards. Wow.

While you can argue that it was a strange pick for the Giants at the time, the reality is that Nassib was seen as a surefire top 50 pick in that draft and the Giants were getting great value at that pick. I'm sure the plan was to develop him and trade him, or if Eli had a precipitous decline, groom him to take over in 3 years. He's still a valuable asset and could even be traded during this year's draft.

Ourlads Scouting Services had him rated the #3QB in the draft behind Geno Smith and Matt Barkley, calling Nassib a second
or third round pick. Being a Giants fan for over 50 years and watching every draft that was ever televised, i'd say the Giants
got good value with the pick.

Thank you for actually backing up your statement of "This is the dumbest post I have ever seen." I was worried you were actually going to be one of the guys on this board that makes a statement like that and then provides no reasoning at all to back up their statement.

Talk about a weak year for QBs ! lol. This year a bit better with Winston , Mariotta and NOVA ! lol Last year with Bridgewater , Bortles , and Carr much better.

Actually, it's a toss up between

As a 4th round pick it seems like Nassib has locked up the backup spot, seems like a solid pick. I find it difficult to analyze line play, but it seems like Pugh is at least decent.

....and if they pick Kroft in the 5th round this year, they will be the smartest NFL team on the face of the planet. "WOW" is an understatement. "Yikes" works better, in this vicinity.

The pick was not strange, what was strange was trading up for him on a team with numerous glaring deficiencies. In thinking about the Nassib pick you do need to factor in the loss of a pick to determine the actual value with the added loss of another player that could be on the field now. If there were any good safeties or lbs at that point, then I would say it was a bad trade.

According to this link, Ourlads had him tied with Mike Glennon as the 5th QB, not the 3rd. And, personally, I think even that is a bit overrated.

And since when do you trade up in the draft to get a backup QB? Backup QB's are available every year in free agency. The Jets just got Ryan Fitzpatrick without having to waste a draft pick. And, as mediocre as Fitzpatrick is, he is light years better than Nassib will ever be.

I too am a Giatns fan. I love the Giants. But Nassib stinks. S-T-I-N-K-S.

He quarterbacked one of the most anemic offenses at Syracuse in their history. When Rutgers played Syracuse, I didn't fear Ryan Nassib. I was thankful he was their QB because I knew he wasn't going to hurt us. I wouldn't be surprised if the Giants cut him before the season starts. And if Eli gets hurt, and Nassib becomes the starter, the Giants season would essentially be over.

Most thought he might go pretty early probably because his HC just left SU to coach the Buffalol Bills' and would certainly grab him in the 2nd or 3rd rd but Marrone nabbed someone else in the 1st round leaving him in a freefall. I think 4th rd was about right for him. SU would have been lucky to win a game without him. He was a tough overachiever IMO.

I have the 2013 Ourlads guide in my hand. Geno Smith-9.74, Matt Barkley-9.31, Ryan Nassib-8.69, E.J. Manuel-8.59, Tyler Wilson-8.39, Mike Glennon-7.90, Landry Jones-6.98 and so on. You sound like a, ahem, young Giants fan. Perhaps you didn't watch Eli"s first few years.

Just for fun, 2004 Ourlads QB ratings: Eli Manning-9.41, Ben Roethlisberger-9.24, Philip Rivers-8.95, J.P. Losman-8.64, Matt Schaub-7.33 and so on.

What a dope I am. I always thought the GM had the final say in who gets drafted, not the HC.

Did you watch the game? Nassib was under incredible pressure the entire game. He stood in there and took hit after hit yet was the main reason Cuse was in the game.

Anemic???? He was the reason they had a winning record and won 2 bowl games. His senior year he threw for 3700+ yards and 26TDs. For his career he had 9,200YDS, completed 60% of his passes with 70TDs against only 28INTs.

Say what you want about Cuse but Nassib was a very good college QB.

He will not be a good value unless he helps on the field.

Don't like the Giants pick. The kid is soft and lazy. Love the Jets pick, though. That D Line will be sick!!!
