Redshirt junior QB Sean McGuire, Sparta, NJ guy, remains on the sideline at FSU. Notre Dinero graduate Everett Golson is named the starter. McGuire needs to get his degree in case Jimbo Fisher brings in another graduate player next year. Life at a big-time program. Pretty amazing that Sparta, NJ has two players at FSU -- the other being OL Chad Mavety. And a third player on the roster played at Pope John in Sparta -- TE Ryan Izzo. How do 3 Sussex County athletes end up at Florida State?

Because theyre florida state.

Also because they won a national championship 2 years ago and went to the 4 team playoffs.

You make it sound like FSU is in North Dakota and have gone 2-10 every year.

Bummer for the QB from Sparta, NJ. I hate to see big time players from our state not at least get the opportunity to shine on the big stage.

Has he at least gotten a few opportunities to start some games and prove himself or has he literally never even seen the playing field yet as a starter? Because that would be sad and probably a large reason why players should be looking closer to home (Cough Cough ...RUTGERS... Cough Cough) to have their support systems around them and then add Rutgers systems and coaching and professionalism to push your over the edge to become the best player you can be and hopefully reach the NFL as many before you have or at the very least be ready for a successful professional career in the "corporate world."

How great would it be if Golson and FSU played the Domers this year?

Sean McGuire chose FSU , as long as he gets a degree and remains injury free , that all I wish for him.

ND had a brutal loss at FSU last year as you will recall. WR interference negated the winning TD with seconds left. I guess the Seminole fans weren't that tough on him that he'd actually play there.

Meanwhile Saban won't name a QB and everyone is cool with it.

I guess they're looking for their "Russell Wilson." Competition is always going to be brutal at the top programs.

Saban isn't the only one, Urban isn't naming a starter before the VT game either. I'm guessing it's JT Barrett. Maybe he even uses both a little. I think Cardale has got the better arm but I think Barrett's mobility is a big plus. Cardale is mobile enough and can get you a hard 5-10 yds but not the potential to be explosive on improvisation like Barrett. We'll see on Monday.

Meant it more about Sussex County, NJ, where high school football is far from the best in NJ. Not an awful lot of Div-1 football talent, traditionally, from Sussex County. This year, it was nice to see Delaware TE Nick Boyle, a Sussex County native, drafted by the Baltimore Ravens and make the roster.

5th year senior transfers is basically Free Agency for College players. Saw a stat where less than 30 % of them get a grad degree from the school they transferred to for 'academic' reasons. I don't blame them for utilizing this loophole.

If we recruited McGuire, and since he didn't come here,he's non existent to me.I do NOT care about Jersey kids that go elsewhere.I hold no animosity towards them BUT I just don't care what they do or not do.I care about OUR kids.
