The four finalists have been named. They are Caleb Williams, QB, USC, C.J. Stoud, QB, Ohio State, Max Duggan, QB, TCU; and Stetson Bennett, QB, Georgia.
You make a case for any of the finalists, but some SEC loyalists have taken shots at the Heisman committee for leaving out two SEC QB (Hendon Hooker, Tenn. & Bryce Young, Bama). The SEC (& ESPN) is figuring out the world doesn't revolve around them. The pundits felt Hooker and Young belonged with Bennett while Williams and Stoud duke it out for the last spot. Basically, the loyalists think the winner this year isn't as deserving because they haven't faced the same level of competition to earn the right to be the Heisman Trophy winner. WTF.

Here's a suggestion:
Have a 6 Heisman Candidate Playoff:

Take all six QBs, and put them behind our offensive line and with our WRs/TEs for a quarter against Georgia's defense. Candidates with the 4 highest passing stats are named finalists.

Wonder how Stetson Bennett would perform on a team other than Georgia.

Who cares. No defensive player (primary position) has ever won. Neither has a non-skill position offensive player. Never once.

It's a media-driven popularity contest.

I think these are the top four vote getters so ESPN not the one at whom to be mad.

This is going to be an interesting heisman. No clear cut candidate . My vote would go to Duggan .
But Stetson will win

I thought Caleb Williams already had it locked up due to many 'early votes'. Also he's already overhyped as the next Mahomes, which affects votes subconsciously. He's the leader of the pack.

This Alabama team wouldn't beat either of them.
Nick Saban went off the deep end, explaining to anyone who would listen that his Bama team should be in the playoffs. His claim was that his team had several injuries, which impacted the team's play. Also, their two losses were against the top 10 teams, and they beat several top 25 teams. Saban kept coming back to the toughness of the SEC and how no other league has as many top-tier teams.

Charles Woodson won it in 1997.
You are correct. I misstated my point. Yes he was a DB but what got him the Heisman was also being a returner and sometimes receiver. If not for that hype, Peyton wins it.

But true, his primary position was on defense. My bad.

Saban is high w/the injury argument. RUFB would probably be in a bowl game w/6 wins this season if it weren't for injuries to key players. Injuries are part of the game and 'Bama's recruiting depth is such that most of their next guy's up are higher ranked recruits than most, if not all, of our starters.

I have no idea how Stetson is a finalist. He's not great, hasn't been some special cog in their run, etc.

In SEC defense, there's 3 or 4 better QBs in their conference so it's fair to ask that question.

That's all well and good, but he brought Tua Tavagloia and DeVonta Smith off the bench to beat Georgia in a National Championship game. Both of them are tearing up the NFL. He's got talent stacked up like firewood. Injuries aren't an excuse. And Bama has made the SEC their personal chew toy for most of his time there, so that's not really an excuse either.

Is he Eli Manning (two Super Bowl MVPs) but not one of the best 5 QBs any year played ?

I thought that his interview explaining why Alabama should be in the playoff was the most pathetic head coach interview that I’ve ever seen. Watching perhaps the most successful coach of the modern era say that his team should be considered for a playoff spot because their losses were due to suffering from “injuries” was laughable. It almost seemed like Saban didn’t believe his own words and he was forced by some boosters to go on camera to beg the voters to change their mind.

He should concentrate on protecting the reactor in his Death Star from proton torpedoes.

I don't think so, but regardless, that's not how Heismans historically awarded.

2003 Jason White (who?) won over Eli, Leinert,Rivers and Roethisberger. Definately not how the Heismans are awarded.

That's exactly what it looked like.

White threw 40 TDs and almost 4000 yards in 2003. Twenty years later and Stetson has half that. Bad comp.

Does anyone think Alabama would beat both OSU and Michigan right now….just curious?

Bama's secondary is pretty bad
ONE Tennessee receiver had FIVE touchdowns on SIX receptions
Stats like that usually only happen in high school
They as losing a bunch of good players to the portal as well - they are abandoning the ship

He's the starting quarterback of the #1 ranked team. His inclusion is obligatory. If Bama went 13-0 it would have been Bryce Young.

Ever watch Georgia play?

Puts the ball on target for receivers to catch the ball in stride. Doesn't turn the ball over. Makes plays when he needs to.

Kid doesn't get enough credit since he wasn't highly recruited. He was a walk on and now led his team to Natty & they are undefeated.

Is he as great a talent as others ? Maybe not, but he maximizes his ability to lead and execute. 20 TDs vs 6 INTs & 3400 yards this year

Kid is a winner.

Yes I've watched him play and I'm not crapping on the kid. When I think about the best CFB player in the country, he wouldn't be anywhere close to my top 5.

Stetson make very few mistakes. He has led his team to one NC and is undefeated this year. He may not win the Heisman trophy, but he is a winner on, and off the field.

Which 2 games would we have won if not for injury ?

But re: Saban. Yes, winning matters and he didn’t win enough. Too bad so sad

And what do you know about his off the field exploits?

Agreed, And he's more than just a game manager
He makes plays when game is on the line
