I have daughter who is looking at schools. I am currently trying to find out about walking tours of the campus. the problems we have been encountering is that there doesn't seem to be enough of them scheduled. Is there a way to find out about them prior to them being posted on the website? Any alternatives? Any info is appreciated/\. Thanks.

This is the website:

https://rutgers-adm.edu.185r.net/Event/

All of it depends on the availability of the Scarlet Ambassadors (students). If the interest is in one of the professional schools like the Business School, Engineering or Pharmacy click the radio button for the Academic Department Tour and then the link to the specific school.

Two other options are the Virtual Tour you can take any time (yeah, I know. It's not the same as being on campus.)

http://nbvirtualtours.rutgers.edu/#LANG_2013052284583|UMAP_2013061995938{"expanded":false}|TTP_2013052231695|TOS_2013102320063

Or, send a query at: https://www.ugadmissions.rutgers.edu/forms/contactus.aspx

I will tell you right now the volume of applications and interest is through the roof. As such, they are not able to take phone calls.

I used to give tours for Cook Campus/ SEBS. They always start with a presentation by faculty in the student center about academics and other basic stuff, and then students will walk smaller groups of prospective students and their relatives around the campus. They usually show the dining hall, a residence, the rec center, and point out some major academic buildings.

Do not let her take the bus tour!!

I give a lot of walking tours for kids of friends and they tell me they never would have seen things like Vorhees Mall without walking it.

If you know the campus well enough. park at Old Queens walk through thoe buildings and then down to the Mall. you can walk inot some buildings if needed. Show off the new Honors College and the Yard etc. Walk up College ave then up to Bishop House to show the Dorms. Walk over to the Student Center and The Barn then Library.

Depending her area of interest, ride over to Busch and walk through the Student Center / Dining hall and then to the Engineering Mall .

Head over to Livi show off the Livi Apts. , stores, movie theater and then walk over to Student Center and Dining Hall. I usually eat at the dining hall, they take cash.

Wals a little through Livi and then head over to Douglas / Cook . Like someone posted about Rutgers Day is a lot of fun on Cook and CA.

Have fun.

Lets pin this.

Nice job, RC1978.

One walk up and down college Ave back in the day and i was awestruck..& I came from equally gorgeous Cornell
but you can feel the history around Kirkpatrick Chapel, Winants and old Queens...

Passion Puddle....Douglas......Cook,,,,,,so much to see !

I would be tempted to do the 5 campus bus tour for an overview
then
do a self guided tour of whatever dept or campus was to be my potential major/area/campus....

If she's looking at engineering I can give a great tour! Also, a really good tour of College Ave, Livi, and the run down on the current across the board things like how the parking, meals, dorms etc work. DM me if you want!
