OT: How does the ignore button work?

Question. With old system it would show " this poster is being ignored" then bock
the text. Are you saying it doesn't even show that? If that's the case that is great.
Because I would "ignore" someone, but see the notice and get curious and go
on anyway.

I have been on these boards a long time and never put anyone on ignore until a couple of weeks ago. I am really glad I did it. It was like inviting an enormous a$$hole into your house over and over again. I see that the ignored poster, posted a message but that is it. And I'm not the least curious to read what he said because I know what he said, having said the same thing for over 45,000 posts over a decade.

Ha, I just ignored a few posters yesterday for the first time. You don't see that they have posted in a thread, even if someone quotes their post, except for a message at the bottom of the thread that states "see ignored content." If you have multiple people on ignore you have no clue who posted the ignored content.

Assuming you can see this post, you are correct. With the new format, if there are posts in a thread from an ignored poster, you will see a link after the last post saying "show ignored content" or something similar. If you click on that, all of the ignored posts will be visible.

I agree with you that its much better. Before I would always be curious "what did this ass say now?" and click show ignored post, which completely defeats the purpose.

That's where the curiosity comes into play, if your ignored person gets
quoted then you may get curious. But so far it is working for me. I only ignore
a couple of people who get real nasty over nothing.

No, you see the non ignored person look like he's talking to himself without the quote. In a back & forth it looks like one person is just rapid fire posting.
