So in September 18-20 in Oak Ridge Park in Clark they are going to have a Food Truck, Carnival and Concert. Admission is free for the carnival but $29.99 each day for the 2 day concert (the 19th and 20th). For the measly 30 bucks each day you get:

Slash
Stephen Percy of Ratt
Faster Pussycat
Lita Ford
Slaughter
Clutch
Three Days Grace
Skillet
LA Guns
Skid Row
Anthrax
Black Label Society
Puddle of Mudd
Kix
Sevendust
Stone Temple Pilots
Godsmack...
Plus more

Thats pretty amazing for a carnival in a park. That place it going to be a madhouse....

black label and skid row too? This is like my entire itunes lineup (except Scott Weiland in STP) :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Wow. I grew up in Clark. Would give anything to see Zakk Wylde

I see what you did there

Is this the Union County Musicfest? That event was run in September and the last time it was held was at Oak Ridge. I think the fact that the county lost huge amounts on it (it may have been free) ended it. They would have several bands and usually a pretty big name as headliner. One year it was Train.

Wait a minute... is this for real? I'm in Cranford, but about 10 mins from there. Remind me to be out of town that weekend.

Lou, IIRC, I don't think the county lost huge amounts of money. In fact, I think it made a boatload of money on the festival. I believe the festival was halted because the books were inadequately kept and county officials didn't think they were getting their proper piece of the pie.

Sorry for no link, I got my information from multiple different sources, one of which was the app article that was already linked.

And this is NOT the Union county fest of past, but I will assume will have the same feel.

Anyone remember Rock n Roll Heaven in Clark? Johnny Z's place? Met Bobby Blitz from Overkill there.

Exactly what I was thinking.

And it is a revival of the old Union County Music Fest, which moved to Clark from Cranford a few years back. I think they took a couple of years off and started to charge this year, after some complaints about irregularities with the money raised and the politics of it being sponsored by the Union County Democrats.

Is there that much white trash in union county ?

I really wish we could get over some of these stereotype responses. It seems to be common place these days. I live in Clark and there are a few bands on this list that I might want to see. There are several others...I very much don't want to see and I don't know many on the list. However, making comments like that ...especially about music ...which has always bridged all social , racial , political and economic barriers is just lame. People need to lighten up with all the self righteousness.

I went to the festival in Cranford a few years in a row - very enjoyable, with some good bands. Recall seeing the English Beat, the Smithereens, Chuck Berry, Fountains of Wayne, Everclear, etc.

This has fustercluck written all over it.
My concern is that the park is in a pretty residential area, and the road to get there (Oak Ridge Rd / Raritan Rd) is one lane in, one lane out most of the way. It's not right off a major highway (like PNC) and not in the middle of nowhere on a piece of farmland. Assuming most people will take Exit 135 Central Ave off the parkway, that gets pretty darn crowded on a regular day.

That's a pretty serious lineup, that will attract a very specific audience, not the casual fan or family day out. Say what you want about blanket judgements or stereotypes, but there will be a certain type of crowd that will need to be dealt with.

Yea, traffic will be a mess. Even with the carnival/food truck, cover bands, free event stuff, it will be a mess. I really would not be too concerned with the certain type of crowd stuff. You gotta be pushing 40 at minimum if you are still a big Slash fan.

Limited parking at the park. Most will need to park at Union county college and shuttle bus over. I live near the park and thankfully I will be at the RU Penn St game that weekend.

So does she just play "Kiss Me Deadly" twice or does she get an Ozzy stand in to play "Close My Eyes Forever" too?

My ranking of the bands (not saying one is better than the other):

Clutch--worth the price of admission alone--too under appreciated and unknown.
Anthrax--close second
Slaughter--Up All NIght
Slash
Black Label Society--Zakk!!
Skid Row
Sevendust
LA Guns
Faster Pussycat
Kix
Three Days Grace
Skillet
Puddle of Mudd
Lita Ford
Stephen Percy of Ratt
Godsmack...
Stone Temple Pilots (If with Chester Bennington--can't stand him)
----------
These are the types of events that you say-We have to go, and then you regret going once you get there. I'll just catch Clutch and Anthrax when they are touring.

Lita Ford I used to want to kiss her deadly. Yooowwww. She had a hot body

I would almost reverse your order actually with STP and Godsmack tops by miles

One person's trash is another's treasure.

I just saw Crobot was added to the list. The go below Anthrax. Great new band out of Pottstown, PA.

STP would be near the top if Scott Weiland was the singer. Never liked Godsmack.

weren't there issues the last time it was in this park? I think I remember it was overcrowded with parking issues and there may have been some rain as well.

For those that are not aware this facility used to be a county golf course but was converted to a park.

I saw Slash open for Aerosmith at the Pru Center. nice concert.
