File this under things you never think you'll do until you have kids....I'm taking my monster truck obsessive 3 year old son to the Monster Jam at Met Life on Saturday the 23rd. Has anyone ever been to one of these events? I'm curious, and a bit concerned, about just how loud it will be. Anyone know what kind of events they have at the pit party beforehand? Also, is there any possibility that I will have fun without drinking?

I picked these up on groupon on a whim but really have no idea what to expect.

My grandson (7 years old) went to one, and is going to this one as well. He wore headphones.

As the father of a 10 year old, 8 year old and 6 year old, I have been to my fair share of Monster Jam events. Ditto what the above poster said, expect a "unique" crowd. That's to be assumed. As for the sound level, the outdoor stadiums are a little more noise friendly as most of the noise escapes. With the said, the kids will need headphones at least for the first half hour or so. Once their ears adjust, it almost becomes normal volume. A good pair of headphones or ear buds will do the trick. The ones sold at the venue look like truck tires which the kids love, but are very uncomfortable and will run you $35. The indoor venues are the worst in regards to sound and fumes. Metlife actually does a nice job with fireworks, military salutes, robots, etc to try to make these events kid friendly.

I went to one of these with my kids a few years back. In a nutshell - it sucked.
