Horrific news to report this morning, multiple people inform me that Marlins' pitcher Jose Fernandez was killed in a boating accident.

WOOOOOOWWWWW!!!!!! THIS IS TRAGIC AS HELL!!!! R.I.P. to the young man and the other victims.
Just heard from Francessa that Fernandez was supposed to pitch today but was pushed back to pitch vs the Mets tomorrow night. HOLY CRAP. Todays game vs the Braves is obviously cancelled.

Hate ESPN as well but breaking news after 9am. Was only word of mouth on Twitter. Francessa started talking about this at 915. I checked ouy the Miami stations on Tune In and they were still talking about todays Dolphin game.
I believe its more so that theyre making sure its not an internet hoax. Sadly it doesn't look to be one.

Why is it obvious the game today is cancelled? I understand its a tragedy and all but life goes on. The Yankees and Orioles played the day after Thurman Munson died and Munson was an every day player. We've really have gotten soft as a society.

I had the opportunity to see Jose pitch in person earlier this year. So talented, so much energy. This is an unbelievable tragedy for his family, the sport and the city of Miami.

Different circumstances. Thurman's tragedy happened on an off day and the game was the following day. This just happened last night and today's game is at 1. The team is going to be out of their minds today. Just horrible news.
This is so sad. Jose had his whole life in front of him. My prayers go out to him and his entire family.

My wife's nephew was a classmate (Alonso HS class of 2011) and battery-mate of Jose on the Alonso baseball team. They won 3-straight Florida Class 6A state championships together as pitcher and catcher.

I went on a cruise to Miami and the Bahamas just about a month ago, as we were sailing out of Miami beach I took pictures of where the rock formations where. It was so beautiful during the day, I can't believe that was the same spot they went in to. This is so sad.
