Not sure where else to go with this question so figured I’d try here.
Have any of you been to a Knicks or Rangers game recently and used Penn Station to get there? I’m bringing my family to the Knicks game Sunday. Tip off is 3pm.
One train option gets us into Penn at 2:33. Would that give us enough time to get from Penn, through the lines into MSG and to our seats by 3pm?

Other option would get us into at 1:44 and we’d have more time to kill. Any idea?

I would take the 1:44 option. It's better to have a cushion, enter comfortably and not be rushed or miss any of the beginning of the game. Plus, you never know about train delays. You're spending good money on these tickets, you don't want to be threading the needle with arrival and entry.

Definitely go early for the same reasons as @RUPete talks about. Plus get there early and get a good meal before you enter MSG. It's very expensive inside so fill up before you go in. Plenty of places to go nearby from pizza places to nice restaurants. This past spring I was staying in the area and went to Tick Tock Diner one block north of the garden. Good food at nice prices.
Others can help with different places close by.

Definitely take the earlier train, delays are inevitable, and you don’t wanna be rushing around, plus the security line to get into the garden is always a hassle. Get in there early if need be, grab something to eat or go to the bathroom, that way you’re not rushing around.

Take the earlier train (could even get in earlier) and grab some food before the game. Los Tacos No. 1 and Roberta's are right outside Penn Station on the corner of W33rd & 7th.
