MSU announced on Friday Feb 19 that Mark Dantonio will be getting a raise form $3.67 million to $4.3 million per year. Plus, another $250,000 total pool increase for his assistants.

Based on 2015 salaries, this would move Dantonio from 21st up to 11th on the list of highest paid college football coaches. Hugh Freeze of Ole Miss is #10 at $4.310 million. And PSU's James Franklin is still ahead of Dantonio at $4.4 million annually.

BUT...

...keep in mind that Dantonio does NOT have an agent... so he gets to keep a larger percentage of money than his peers.

$$$ Congrats to the dude in East Landfill. He deserves it, especially for what he's been doing to my team over the past several years.

D'Antonio seems like a good and honest coach. I have a lot of respect for him since he took a Mich St team that lost to Rutgers when Rutgers was middle of the pack in the Big East to a top 10 caliber program.

Whenever anyone in our lovely state complains about our coaches salary. Mention this. The State of Michigan pays the salaries of coaches from Michigan State, Univ of Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan, and Western Michigan. All P-5/G-5 public schools. The state of Michigan has similar fiscal problems to New Jersey. How can the state of Michigan accomplish this but NJ can't?

Yeah and he did it the right way too. When he was only getting 2 and 3 star recruits he relied heavily on player development. Even this past season he had a team that was much greater than the sum of it's parts because they were mainly veterans who know the system and developed over time. Now he is also cashing in on Top shelf recruits.

Let's be a little patient with Ash and his recruiting. He is demanding excellence from his players and if they buy into it and stay 4-5 years we will improve.

Just replayed the entire MSU game that Caroo crushed. The receivers for Green had a fabulous day and allowed them to win. But I will never forget D'antonio's interview after the game, not giving RU OR Caroo any credit at all. Pre game was the same. He said "they have players". Afterwards he never acknowledged playing in P'way. The crowd. The team. The Monster Caroo. Coach D is a vampire.

This year might be different. But, he deserves the raise. His team played in the National championship and best Ohio State. Not a bad year, Ash does this just double his and his staff salaries.
