Interesting L.A. Times article "The college basketball difference: The ball can change from game to game".

http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-different-basketballs-20160225-story.html

Includes this note "Most college teams prepare for the difference." I'm thinking with all the things we do wrong here, this is no doubt another one.

Also, includes "Elsewhere, diversity abounds. Big Ten Conference teams navigate brands like Michigan's the Rock and Wisconsin's Sterling ball. Earlier this month, Wisconsin guard Nigel Hayes, dreading the prospect of playing with Maryland's Under Armour ball, advocated an NCAA-wide standard."

Seriously, what ball does Rutgers use at the RAC?

Cannon balls. For the last 25 years.
