It occurs to me that, with all the big rumors surrounding the RU athletic department lately, and since Subway is deprecated as the school rumor mill and has become obsolete, I no longer know where the go-to establishment is to enjoy a nice meal and overhear (and spread) RU athletics rumors. So I'm collecting nominations for Subway's replacement.

There was a grass-roots movement, a year ago or so, to make it Au Bon Pain (by movement, I mean @RutgersRaRa said it once to me in a post). But that seems not to have gained the requisite traction. And since the French (those cheese eating surrender monkeys) told us that we ought not to invade Iraq and topple Saddam because we'd get bogged down there for years at great cost and would create a situation of greater instability in the region when we left (we sure showed them what's what), I feel I can't, in good conscience partake of a French sounding restaurant, even thought I admit I am back to eating French fries.

So. Stuff yer Face? Tumulty's Pub?

My vote is for Olde Queens
So nominated. I may do a poll at some point, depending on how this thread goes.

After I was back from college, I spent many a drunken Thursday at Olde Queens. Much fun was had by all. I particularly liked how it would get so crowded that it could take 15 minutes to get to the bathroom from wherever you were. But at least the crowd was always friendly and I was able to strike up many conversations on the way. More than once we were told to all get out by the police because we'd exceeded the capacity or something.

But I'm wondering now, is it wise to have a rumor mill be at a place where the primary focus is drinking oneself to semi-consciousness?

I thought that Subway became obsolete when a certain highly-placed pool boy and 'Bama fan began posting. No?
I'm not sure what the cause was, but something happened. If we had a new rumor-mill headquarters, we would be able to find out the answer.

These things can't be forced, they have to happen on their own organically.

The funny thing about the Subway story is it was 100% true. I'm good friends with the poster who made the thread and who still reads the boards but doesn't post often.

Get with the times people!
It has to be one of the new shops at the Yard@College Avenue. I'm partial to Jersey Mike's.

NJBiz
Seven food retailers sign on for College Avenue project in New Brunswick

It's where all the cool kids will be.

It has to be a Quickcheck/Wawa...ever notice how they are conveniently located within a mile or two of every major highschool football and basketball program in the state?

picking from the list in this article and using the above mentioned fact that a bunch of the coaches are from the Midwest I'd have to vote for:

the soon to be opened Honeygrow...a farm to fork eatery.

Bella's Burger Shack would be my second choice, going with the beef theme.

If Honeygrow serves Lamb, it's disqualified. :D Otherwise, that could work.

The burger shack menu looks pretty good to me, depending on execution. Particularly the brownie bites (Chunks of Deep-Fried Brownie over Vanilla Ice Cream and drizzled with Chocolate Syrup). Yum.

Lamb is awesome. It's one of the foods I would ask for as my final meal.

Actually, in all seriousness, I like eating lamb too. Just don't tell @DJ Spanky who probably has at least a dozen man-sheep love memes queued up to post in my direciton. :)

Being a little over dramatic, I nearly had a heart attack when this thread said that Tumulty's was closing. I have been going there since the original Tudor building on the J&J site. I was afraid that they lost their lease like SOHO did. Apparently, one family owns most of the commercial space on George Street and is rumored to have played hardball with the owners of SOHO which was a great value fine dining place. Great to hear that it will continue but still concerned about the changes a new owner might make. I think that Tumulty's is the perfect college town eatery along with Stuff Your Face. I'm thrilled with the new development on College Ave. It has desperately needed a face-lift and is getting it.
