OT: New Metallica album 11/18/16!!

Finally sounds like the long awaited return to thrash form after years of weak sauce post And Justice for All. Death Magnetic came close but it missed the mark. Thankfully Anthrax, Megadeth and Slayer carried the thrash torch for the last 25 years.

I think the first and last songs on DM are incredible. Cyanide is really good too. The other songs needed to be a minute or two shorter and the production was awful.

Not that familiar with (wanted to see them at the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame shows but couldn't land a ticket and that week was full of Yankee World series home games (my buddy on this board and his brother did all as well as worked those 10 days or so and had at least 20 less hours of sleep than me. Had a hunch and was correct when brother got sick for Game 6 of the 2009 World Series when the Yankees won #27!!! :>).

Really miffed I missed Mariano last game when he was serenaded by Metallica. Say what you want about their "politics" but that (and the tribute to Mariano during their Hall of fame performance) was COOL.

Would like to see live. However, just as excited for the new Jimmy Buffett Holiday CD out already as well as the Kenny Chesney CD.

While not one of the original 4, I would throw Pantera in there even though Dimebag left us way to soon.
Saw Anthrax in 1999 in Saryvelle (I think). That was an intense show.

Atlas, Rise is sweet as well!

I tell you what, the "lack" of touring they've done over the years, as opposed to what Rush did - which killed Geddy's voice - has allowed Hetfield to maintain his and have apparently no issues singing as he always has at 53.

To be fair, different vocal styles and Rush also had nearly a 10 year head start.

I had the chance to hang out with Tom Araya of Slayer, as he was dating a friend of mine, and he gave me back stage passes for Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax and Alice in Chains at the Garden when Layne Staley was still alive. I got to bs backstage with Flavor Flav and Chuck D of Public Enemy. Awesome show.

Rush toured incessantly, for 40-years, probably more than any major group in history, which is why Geddy lost his voice and the point I was making. While different, similar, IMHO, in that they both have singing styles that aren't exactly normal (or good for the throat, for that matter, yikes!).
