Speculation is he plays short, Kim slides over to second and Cronenworth becomes full time first baseman. Right now the Pods are short a left fielder so when Tatis comes back that's where he goes.
Still need to find a fifth starter somewhere. I'm hoping they somehow we resign Drury to be the everyday DH and gives them some infield depth.

Padres will now have Gold Glove finalists at all four infield spots and in both CF and RF.

I wouldn't be completely shocked if Preller looked to move Kim or Crone in a deal

I would. We're thin in the infield in the system with Abrams gone. The only other infielders on the 40 man are Eguy Rosario and Matt Batten. Nether one of them is an everyday player. Jackson Merrill is still a couple of years away.
I think they really want to keep Tatis in the OF

SD desperately trying to buy a championship. Sounds like they offered Judge $400m.

Players in general don't like the guys on San Diego. Oh what a surprise!
The other players or the management? Truthfully I've never heard that before.
I do know for a fact that front office people around the league don't like Preller very much. I have a very close relative who is in a senior management position for a MLB team and he told me that a couple of years ago.

Do really think Manny Machado was a great teammate the last few years with Baltimore and the few months on the Dodgers??
This qoute from him after not running out plays with the Dodgers.
"Obviously I’m not going to change, I’m not the type of player that’s going to be ‘Johnny Hustle,’ and run down the line and slide to first base and … you know, whatever can happen. That’s just not my personality, that’s not my cup of tea, that’s not who I am.”
Tatis has his own issue with PEDs after signing the biggest contract at the time.

You're in the same division as the Dodgers. If you don't bring in some high priced people you have no chance. As good as the Pods played in the NL playoffs last year remember that they finished 22 games behind the Dodgers during the season.

Yes he has been a model team mate and citizen with the Padres. The guy has matured into a team leader and if they had a captain he would be it. Don't forget that Manny's been in MLB for 11 years and he just turned 30 over the summer. he's actually a few months younger than Aaron Judge. I watch about 95% of Padre games and I can tell you that the guy plays hurt and busts his a** every game.
As for Tatis, Manny and Musgrove were the two guys that ripped him a new one over this issue. The kid is a major hot dog but no one can question how hard he plays. i think that the kid will be humbled a little by this experience and I think that Bob Melvin will be a great influence. His former manager was a rookie at the job. Playing for a 3 time Manager of the Year will help.

His current teammates like him but veteran players aren't going to roll the dice if he would go back to his old ways because he isn't paid $400 million. No longer the king of the castle. His value to the team seems to being the highest paid. Or close to it. He reminds me of Arod. Only the young players loved him. NY Yankees veterans not so much.

Hey! You guys finally got one!

I'm sorry but I don't agree. I haven't seen one negative comment about Manny in the past three or four years from anyone in the league. Without a doubt when he was younger he was an A-1 a** hole. The guy has matured and is now a leader.
As for being upset about no longer being the highest paid we'll see what happens soon. He has an opt out in his contract at the end of next season and there has been zero speculation about him leaving. He sees what the Padres are doing in terms of trying to build a big time contender and how they're willing to spend money to do it. By all indications he loves San Diego, the fans and Petco. In addition he owns a $10 million home on Coronado. Not a bad place to live. He's guaranteed $32 million a year for the next five years. He probably could get more on the open market but the guy wants to win a championship and at this point in his career I think he sees the Padres as his best option and not starting all over again someplace else for a couple of extra million.

As a Red Sox fan who watches 130+ plus games per year I'm really gonna miss that 15 home runs per year
plus that below average defense at ss.

The guy was a Gold Glove nominee this year so I'm going to guess that his defense was a little better than below average. Also was in the top 5 in MLB in three major fielding stats. Let's say he doesn't work out at short. He slides over to 2B and Kim, another GG nominee last year moves back to SS.
As for his hitting here is where he ranked in major offensive categories for Boston last year:
Hits - 1, RBI-3, BA- 1, Walks - 1, OBP -1, SLG - 2, OPS - 1
With Tatis, Machado and Soto he doesn't need to hit 30 HRs. 15/20 HRs with a .295/.310 BA will do nicely.

Bogarts is a great teammate and from what I read is solid in the locker room.
Yes, he will hit 16 home runs, drive in 80 rbi and never cause any problems with management.
That being said I stick with what I wrote about his defense, defensively he is a below average SS.

You know him better than I do but if you get nominated for a GG you have to be pretty good.
Besides, like I said they can move him and put Kim or even Tatis back at SS. If he turns out to be a defensive liability right now the Padres don't have a DH.
Happy to have him.

If I could sign anyone from the Padres org. it would be Don Orsillo... God,
do I miss him.

@WhiteBus I will fight you at subway over Manny.

Manny has be an excellent leader and has been great on and off the field.

The sad thing is no one on the east coast watches NL West baseball so you just think it’s Baltimore Manny.

Dodgers Manny too.

Orsillo and Grant are a good combination. It's baseball, not rocket science and thats the way they treeat the game.
They’re responsible for me getting back into baseball. Just a great duo.

They’re always good for a few laughs, really wish we got to listen to them in October.

Can you imagine them calling that 7th inning comeback vs the Doyers in game 4? Would have been so much better.

They kept putting them on the big board at petco during the games and there was a consistent pop every time. SD loves them
