OT: Plastic Lumber by Rutgers Inventor

Had the pleasure of being taught by Tom and and Rich Renfree during my time in Engineering. Didn't realize Rich passed on....may he RIP.

Great teachers and even better people in my opinion!

Great article and great invention. More people should read this article about this contemporary Rutgers man as opposed to some of the other mindless "recycled" nonsense that pops up here.

Didn't realize that it had RU origins. I once owned stock in plastic lumber and thought it had tremendous potential. Not an expensive stock, but it never caught on so I finally got rid of it. Could have replaced my metal mailbox.

He reminded me of a guy from my HS with 30+ patents from IBM. He had a perfect SAT score and after college ended-up at IBM's Watson Research Center. One night I saw him drunk in a local gin mill. We got to talking and he said "You think YOU have stress? Imagine your boss calling you into his office and telling you you have to invent materials that don't even exist!". He was a dead a few years later.

graphene-plastic materials could mean the end of metal and even x-ray detectors to alert of unauthorized arms and weapons....
