Passed away Friday at the age of 89. Sam & Dave was one of the great soul acts of the late 60's.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee. One of the many great artists on Stax Records. RIP.
Springsteen was a huge fan, saying that Sam was the top soul music voice of all time. Gotta respect the fact that he always tried to give Sam (as well as other underpaid and under appreciated soul singers) their due.
I was able to meet him and see him perform when he was inducted into the Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music at Monmouth University in 2023. It was quite the honor.

Hold On, I'm Coming and Sweet Soul Music were two of my favorites growing up.
its a little before my time of knowing and recognizing artists but I do know those 2 songs Soul Man and Hold On Im Coming which the Rutgers band and alot of college bands used to play constantly in the 90s and 00s and the dance team would do their kickline thing
For some reason I'll always link Sweet Soul Music with being on the beach in Pt. Pleasant and every transistor radio there being tuned into WABC.
