OT: Scott Shannon says goodbye: 'I could not have done this without all of you'

In the mid-late 80's his morning zoo on z100 was huge and made z100 THE biggest top 40 station. When he left for LA is was bad both both parties. Z100 lost some of it's invincibility and the station he tried to start up in LA petered out after a couple years. He came back to PLJ and was there for a long time but it was different. PLJ wasn't top 40. It didn't have the prestige or edge. It was kinda watered down, safe, hokey joking morning fluff for moms. Great career though. Most people don't get to leave radio on their own terms and do it this long.

The "Morning Zoo" craze was single-handedly responsible for the swift adoption of satellite radio.

Scott & Ross on the Z Morning Zoo was a huge success back in the 80's.

They also had a cool afternoon/evening DJ, I believe it was Shadoe Stevens?

I remember a lot of great FM stations growing up, for talk and music. Do any still exist?
