OT: Seton Hall basketball fans send message during no-show against Butler

This is crazy, Seton Hall would pay big time players when you couldn’t and now when it’s legal there’s no money whatsoever? What happened? The program was solid up until very recently.

Rutgers is the big loser in this case, as we’re going to have a giant stinky Q4 landmine game every year that we’ll have to avoid to not destroy our season/seed lines. In a rivalry game which in college sports are always close no matter the records. We don’t want to be their super bowl every year … need to seriously consider this series

As much as I love the rivalry I'd agree that if they devolve to A10-level play it's a pointless series. It's fun when you have Geo vs Myles Powell and two ranked or almost ranked programs.

I mean our Eddie Jordan days were pretty dark and gloomy. The top 3 big east teams are good but that conference is not going to be good enough to keep even a struggling program down forever. Lots of mediocrity and sub par programs to climb yourself into the middle of the pack most seasons.

In fairness to them, three of their starters are out with injuries: "Playing without three injured mainstays – starting guards Dylan Addae-Wusu (ankle) and Chaunce Jenkins (knee) and wing Scotty Middleton (ankle)..."

One year- they’ll be back. The said the same thing about dumping RU from the schedule for the last 40 years.

They paid players when it was cheap but not legal... aka cheating... and it kept them competitive and arrogant. Now the same amount of (non-cheating) cash has them super small time in the NIL world. F them... It's called KARMA and it's pronounced--- HaHa F*ck You!!

The baffling thing this year is their defense, they really shut down some pretty capable offenses early in the year in VCU, FAU and even Rutgers really. 36th in Adjusted Defensive Efficiency through the Rutgers game, 267th since

Kinda like RU does from the BIG.
A completely ironic post considering it’s quite literally the other B1G schools stealing from RU’s value, the TV $$$ from getting the NYC market for BTN was the biggest win in realignment from a $$ wise. Also, RU is in the top half of the Big Ten academically in the US News Ranking, also bringing up the conference from community colleges like Oregon and Indiana

Curious how Seton Hall landed some of those highly rated classes back in the day? Anyone have insight?

Isn't this what Kevin Willard used to say about playing Rutgers?

They hired coaches, uncles and handlers of recruits as assistant coaches.
It's a pretty well known "secret" that's how they got their vaunted recruiting classes.

This year is obviously a superfund site, but to be fair, it's only this year. We won 25 games last year. I'm hearing the school, rightfully embarrassed, is making a huge commitment to the payroll next year, so we'll see.

If that turns out not to be true, and they just starve the program and let it wither, then I'm sure Rutgers would seek to end the series, or at least recast it as something you do every so often. But really, we're a long way from that. This year is still an outlier.

Back then $50K in illicit payments was big money. Now that it's on the books, that's chump change!

Hope they can fix it. It’s a fun series and important for NJ basketball.
