OT: Seton Hall Family and Friends Crowd Tonight

Terrible job coaching tonight.. another L. Undisciplined and sloppy all season. And who instructed the guy to make the last free throw?

No sympathy for a cheating school paying players long before NIL when it didn't take much cash but took SOME cash for star players to sign on to play in sh*thole South Orange NJ. Most of them couldn't spell shiton hall. Now that it's legal NIL money the cheaters can't afford, well boo hoo, would NEVER have been in the conversation if they weren't cheating. SUCKS FOR THEM NOW...LOL.

I really feel like its finally catching up with their cheating asses and I have no sympathy for them. What they did had a long term effect on non-cheating RU recruiting NJ/NY basketball. F them. Hope their program burns to the ground.... how's that? Any more clarity? 😁

Its been shown that attendance will drop with losing records.Rutgers had many games where the RAC was half empty in previous losing seasons. In contrast Princeton fan support is mediocre even with winning teams. The MSG crowd for Michigan State game showed there are are more than 8000 fans interested in Rutgers basketball. It just shows the drawing power of Bailey and Harper.Seton Hall attendance at the Prudential Center is comparable to Rutgers at the RAC.

I’m sorry even in our most putrid years under Eddie Jordan NEVER did we have a crowd as sad as that. Pathetic

In fairness, that's a lot of family and friends. 13 players and like 10 coaches/trainers, so even 3500/23 is 152. Those are pretty solid wedding numbers.

With all the advantages of a large state university in the best athletic league, we should be miles ahead of the South Orange program and we are only inches ahead.

Who got paid there ?
I think I remember that Australian pro Adam gase was pretty controversial with his amateur status.
Luther wright ? Holloway ? Who are you talking about ??

I don’t really get this. If NIL “killed their program” how were they throwing bags at people like Isaiah Whitehead, Myles Powell, and some of their other star talent over the past two decades? Everyone here assumed they were paying players good coin.

I haven't lived in NJ for 18 years now but I don't think I remember South Orange being a so-called "sh*thole" town.

I'm not following the idea here that this is surprising at all. Most Seton Hall games that are not vs Villanova on a weekend, usually are around 5 to 6K fans most nights, then add in the students to fill in the endzone seats.....and that was when Seton Hall was in NCAA contention under Kevin Willard.

If it's a weekend game, you could see 8 to 9K there in the lower bowl of the Rock....but this notion that they're selling out games at 10K attendance numbers, was never the case.

If you see 5500 to 6500 most games there against a normal opponent, it's going to drop off dramatically when you're having an awful season.

This is another NIL excuse thread, yes NIL has always been a factor, it was the bag-man 10 to 20 years ago....at the end of the day, you still have to recruit HS kids and throw them on the court. I think the attendance is not just an off year, it signals that the fans aren't sure what is happening next year.

If you don't have any HS recruits signed, what is there to forecast or look forward to?? More portal additions with no ties to Seton Hall or playing at another school right now??

Fans have to have new players to look forward to and Seton Hall hasn't provided anything to look forward to, so the current roster can be put together with the new freshman for 2025.....NIL and the portal destroys the connection to the fanbase, without HS kids in the pipeline. That's what's impacting attendance, not just NIL....

Take your meds please.

Box score reflects 7,200 at the game. Sounds like inflated numbers like we report for football games.
Box score reflects tix sold for the game, not actual people in the stands. Lots of season tix holders not going to games.
