So imo Joe Pa's statue should be banned from any campus anywhere, and his record of most wins should be vacated (if done great...if not, do it).

Joe Pa knew and so did the President of We Are….R U?

His President knew and is going to jail...and if Joe was still alive he'd go too-kicking and screaming while denying any knowledge.

Now if we can just get the media to properly identify the terrorists in Sri Lanka (admit it...you knew it had to be them - who else was it going to be a disenfranchised group of Jewish accountants?)...we'd have a trifecta.

That's what she said!

Where do you draw the line. A poster on this site has Rutgers own Paul Robeson singing the same song as Kate ("That's Why Darkies Were Born"). Does that make Robeson a racist? Jefferson had slaves and children by those slaves...should we blow up Mt. Rushmore, and have his visage replaced with say "Trump, Bush or Obama"?

Ever hear of Old Black Joe...watch Dumbo and listen to the crows who are jive talking (funny) black hipsters?

We've got a racist past, present and probably future. We have hatred against every group. It can't be "whitewashed" (sorry)...but removing it from our collective memories doesn't help anything.

Da FUQ indeed!

This whole thing is weird and kind of scary. The Flyers wasted no time just because a few people complained. Beyond that why do they have her statue there to begin with? Was she from Philly?

Back during their Stanley Cup runs in the 70's they use to play her "God Bless America" instead of the National Anthem as a good luck piece. They won something like 35 out of 38 games it was played.
In the Final they brought her in live to sing and the Spectrum went crazy.

And haven't done squat since. Some good luck charm. 43 year Cup drought.

To continue the concept RutgersMO started (or did I misinterpret?), would people be offended if the Flyers played God Bless America instead of the Star Spangled Banner today or only if a hockey player knelt during the playing of God Bless America?

All history should be removed. Racism has been in this country since Day 1 against Jewish Irish, Italians, Native Americans, Puerto Rican’s, Mexicans and on and on and on.

Let’s get rid of all past history and move into 13 districts. Let one child from each district fight to the death. That’s the only real solution.

its ludicrous and scary and the swiftness of how quickly it was done without discussion should concern everyone. Its so 2018 to be woke and to try and change and remove history and to apply 2018 standards to 1930.

I am wondering where the genesis of this whole thing started. I do not recall any big twitter blowup about this, was this an internal discovery by the Yankees or was a SJW group putting heat on the organization

The song in question has some pretty harsh racist language in it but if you read all of the lyrics and also look who sung this song as well. And do some quick research about who wrote this song and why. You would realized that the "racist" part was meant as satire and it was making fun of racism not promoting. The rest of the song is meant to make racist people ashamed for thinking such things and is pro black. Oops!

So basically she is getting "canceled" for singing an anti-racism song. Welcome to 2019 people of Earth!

Wrong again X2.
Maybe you meant Robbie Robertson? LOL.
Are you sure you are a Rutgers fan?
Knight Sh*t for Brain's strikes again.
"That's Why Darkies Were Born" was a popular song written by Ray Henderson and Lew Brown. It originated in George White's Scandals of 1931. It was most famously recorded by Kate Smith, whose rendition was a hit in 1931,[1] and by Paul Robeson.[2][3
the song was recorded by Kate Smith and again by Roberson .See below.

People are rewriting history to fit their narrative. That is very dangerous and leads to unwelcome consequences. Shame they don't even see it and could have learned this very lesson from history.

Was Carroll O'Connor a racist because he played Archie Bunker?

The connection between Kate Smith and Coach Chris Ash:

"She received a Drake University medallion for "outstanding contributions to radio and the people." Drake University is Chris Ash's Alma Mater .

Another tidbit: "In 1969, in light of Jim Morrison's arrest in Miami for indecent exposure, Smith had performed with The Lettermen, Anita Bryant, and Jackie Gleason in a concert demonstration against indecency, for which President Richard Nixon commended the stars' performances."

Since we are going into 6 degrees territory, the estate of Jack Klugman may want to issue a formal apology for this line in The Odd Couples episode of The Odd Couple:

Felix: "I think she [Gloria] is seeing another man."
Oscar: "I think it's your imagination."
Felix: "No, no, no. I've got proof. This morning I measured the seat belts in her car. The passenger side was abnormally loose."
Oscar: "Maybe she went shopping with Kate Smith."

It's "1984"

Speaking of re-writing History, NJ's own Abbott / Costello appeared on the Kate Smith show. Watch for a mention of her late in the routine.

Here's a clip from the show... how much longer before "Who's on First" is banned!

Very sad...frustrating and flummoxed.

Oh no what's everyone going to do with there Kate Smith record collections?
Not really the point. First it was Confederate statues, now it's branching out into other areas, even if unwarranted. Seems to me at this point, anything historical is fair game when viewed from a certain vantage point.

Wasnt Paul Robeson from Somerville? When i heard this I felt and still feel like trying to file a defamation of character lawsuit against the Yankees on behalf of Smith and Robeson- and I'm a big fan and former season ticketholder. We all know well from the one post the prejudice Robeson experienced as a RU football player with the "Southern team" refusing to take the field if Robeson was on it.
